I'm excited about the next release of Friendica is that the BlueSky integration is mature enough I will activate it on my instance. NGL one of the reasons why is because some accounts, like @Popehat that abandoned Birdshite/Xitter for here are mostly posting over there now. Others that never left have since left it for there (or Threads). Threads I'll pick up when their ActivityPub bridge kicks in. But for the time being anyway there is no ActivityPub bridge from BlueSky. It is posts like this that I miss from Ken though :). @motoridersd I've been chatting with @heluecht about this and I believe it should work like the old Twitter bridge did. That means that posts from people I follow on BlueSky will have its content appear in my timeline like fediverse user federated content. If I reply to that post or write a post from scratch over here that content will be replicated over on BlueSky as well. If I reshare a BlueSky post that will do a quote-reshare type thing with a hyperlink. It doesn't merge the two universes (fediverses?) globally though. Another thing it will be like is Diaspora federation. Like when I share a Diaspora post ActivityPub people see it as me sharing a hyperlink. Responses on ActivityPub networks don't get federated back to DIaspora. Friendica users that respond would have their content reshared back in that case since Friendica knows how to do Diaspora federation as well as ActivityPub federation. MMn ist es eine gut überlegte Entscheidung, sich im #Fediverse zu bewegen. Es ist die Entscheidung, sich unabhängig von Algorithmen zu machen, die in vorbestimmte Richtungen drängen.

In the past, every time the news reports on I/P again, there is a sharp surge in antisemitic violence around the country and around the world in the diaspora. This time is different.
And while some might argue there is a substantial and noticeable difference in scale, I'm not convinced that the violence so far is (rhetoric certainly is). No, the biggest difference this time is that Islamophobic violence (again, as delineated from rhetoric) seems to be accompanying it.
That's new, and it's bad, and it's important for us to recognize that those who are pleased with one are always (yes, always, really think through what you think are counterpoints) pleased with the other. For now, maybe from here on out, violence will rise against both each time.
Update on this: I'm depressed to report that yes, there is a substantial and noticeable difference in the antisemitic violence in the United States and the rest of the diaspora that absolutely blots out all previous reactions.
Which is, perhaps, related to the rising Islamophobic violence as well.
The idea that both of these are the new normal should terrify people on the left, even who aren't Jewish or Muslim (or Arab or Sikh, because bigots are stupid). Instead, it is met with (at best) a collective shrug where it isn't lauded as appropriate consequences.
