It's half term here in the UK so I've being doing well, not really doing much social media type stuff.
I've just got wind of a Minecraft schedule A hearing tomorrow, and as I haven't listened in to an NDIL hearing this year, I may just have to have a listen, see how things are going in Illinois courts see if any defendants show up. Doubt it but maybe worth a listen to a judge I've not heard before in these cases.
If you’ve ever been out in the woods and sworn you’ve heard someone call your name, you might not be going crazy — just experiencing a condition called “auditory pareidolia.” Live Science explains more about this phenomenon of hearing intelligible voices or sounds in meaningless background noise. https://flip.it/KbQ8o- #Science#Hearing#Health#Mind#NeuroScience
For the record, #Elon#Musk was watching incest #porn, and was going to #court for the #felony of having #sex with animals, not the other way around.
In fact, in a preliminary #hearing last week I heard #Space Karen Elon Musk say as he was charged with animal necrophilia “Gee your honor I didn’t know the cat was dead when I was #fucking it.”
Interesting article about noise sensitivity. Very recognizable. I couldn't live without my noise-cancelling headphones and earbuds anymore. They've made my life less stressful.
Just got home after seeing Kristin Key perform. A very good show. Only detraction were the two people behind me who repeatedly screamed in my ear, to the point of pain, and talked loudly to each other, etc., the whole time. I wouldn't mention this (really, I try not to complain), except for the punchline: when the show ended, and there was thunderous applause, and then we were leaving, one of them got an alert on their phone letting them know it had detected a condition of excessive loudness! Oh, the irony. #hearing
So, it turns out some #pilots get tubes placed in their ears to help with air circulation through their eustachian tubes during pressure changes. From what I understand the tubes fall out at 6 months. They are inserted via small hole in the ear drum. My QUESTION: is it safe to put in tubes multiple times? Do the tiny eardrum holes scar over each time, build up and affect hearing? Is there a limit to how many times tubes can be placed in?
New results out: Zac & Kelson looked at order and disorder in the functional representations in the auditory cortex. On large scales, there are tonotopic maps, but on small scales, neighboring cells can be tuned very differently. To reconcile this, they imaged 3D volumes and found that there is a fractured columnar small-world functional network organization.
