I just learned about this #Inkscape feature request. While #FreeCAD sketches export nicely as SVGs, they are limited; for example, I can't put constrained text in them, and if I export faces made from sketches, they are lots of tiny line segments from the model, not the underlying shapes. Constraints that can apply to arbitrary SVG objects, like text, would be wonderful.☺
3D Design tool for needy kids, the search continues.
We have old laptops to loan out to kids from poor backgrounds. They don't have internet. 2D design we have covered with #inkscape, and the laptops run #linux well (but not Windows). What I need is a 3D design program. Suggestions welcome.
O processo de construção de um vídeo de standard profissional e o observar do resultado com recurso apenas a #comandline, #ffmpeg e #inkscape é impagável.
NOTA: Sim...trabalhoso...até termos um "template" o processo é moroso...
#opensource chat server Rocket Chat decided to make their latest upgrade plain abusive. If you run your own, you are now required to enrole in a trial of their premium proprietary nonsense and it's likely the server is spying on it's admins and users.
great
Looks like #inkscape is going to have to move chat systems. There's just no way to regain trust in an upstream that is abusive. Not without forking away from the abusers.
Does anyone want to get into trying out new features in #Inkscape ?
Jabier has made a feature branch and I don't have time to test it myself, but I thought some of you guys might be looking for small and easy ways to contribute:
Your work is invaluable, @chriskirknielsen! Never thought about visualizing effect filters, but now #SVG makes a lot more sense because of such a tool.
I mean, in terms of non-destructive workflows and #Inkscape, the only thing I know that Just Works™ is #LivePathEffect. Of course, if #EditableSVG ever got approved by Consortium, the progress would be apparent. Well, nevermind that! Having node graph for path effects, additionally, would probably make up for a stellar experience.
Your tool is something else: it comes at rescue in understanding raster SVG effects. I have a hope. 👍
Started working on a sickbay for the USS Cerberus. Gonna be a mix of Voyager and Enterprise-E as far as influences, but with its own color pallet and details.
It's quite dark at the moment as most light sources aren't set up yet, I intend the final set to be brighter.
So... I completely redesigned the room as I wasn't happy with how Voyager-esque it was.
It now has a symmetrical layout with two beds at each side of the central surgical area, with a nurse station also at the center of the room. At one end there's a glass division connecting to the chief medical officer's office.
It's nearly there, I just need to do some more LCARS, finish the biobeds, the surgical area, and some other details.
'I wonder if Shape builder in #Inkscape recognises guides as possible object edges', I thought, and went to check.
No, it doesn't, but would be a useful feature :) As it is, I'd have to help it by adding short straight paths where the ring is crossed by guides.
