A few years ago I decided that instead of talking about the range of options available to regular users who wanted to try #Linux I would just tell them about #LinuxMint.
It is not that I am convinced Mint is the absolute best but rather that I discovered that the abundance of choice is disorienting and that if the person made the switch I would be more able to guide them through any problems if they were using the same #distro as me.
Almost a month of using @linuxmint on my personal laptop, and two weeks on my work laptop.
And holy bananas... I've never had better experience with #linux than with Mint...
IT JUST WORKS! Like really! Yes, old kernel, all that stuff. But despite that (which is not a big problem on 11th gen Intel) it is DIAMOND SOLID! Even update from 21.2 to 21.3 was so seamless, I've never seen ANYTHING like this. #linuxmint is not only for beginners. It's for people that work with their PC, not on their PC!
This cli tool might be really good for others, like me, who are new to Linux. I love it.
"eg" outputs examples of common commands you query. I tried out "eg touch" in the left panel and this is what came out. Bit more info in the right panel.
You can install it with pip ("sudo apt install pip" then "pip install eg").

I've spent too much time trying to get Linux to work on a 14 year old laptop (Toshiba Satellite M645). I finally got it to work by using the acpi=off parameter in the Linux kernel boot command.
Now it is happily running Linux Mint XFCE and I've successfully repurposed the laptop and kept more e-waste from the dump, and more money in my pocket.
#MyFirstDistro was #LinuxMint . I installed it briefly before starting computer science in my computer and in a cousin of mine's because she was driving a 32bit W7 netbook with 2GB of RAM in 2014. I then switched to #Ubuntu because it was the distro specified in the curriculum, I played a bit with #Antergos and five years ago now I made the jump to #ArchLinux, the best distro I've ever used!
