Some impressions from today’s visit to Hallstatt in Upper Austria. The scenery was as grand as ever, but the place is plagued by overtourism to an extent that is almost as bad as in Kyoto. 🤒
Photographer Tom Rae:
‘The Milky Way emerges from New Zealand’s highest mountain on a winter night – a shot I’ve longed to capture. In rare alpine weather conditions, I embarked on a journey up the glacial valley one night. Upon reaching the lake, the scene that unfolded made me feel like I had landed on another planet.'
Photographer Francesco Dall’Olmo: ‘This was the first photo I took in Patagonia. Contrary to expectations of cold, rain, and wind, our initial encounter with these landscapes was unusual: nearly three days of clear skies. This clear welcome gifted me with a rare photo of Mount Fitz Roy framed by the Milky Way arch’
Photographer Brandt Ryder: ‘Superblooms can be a once-in-a-lifetime event. An atmospheric river in the winter of 2023 caused record amounts of moisture to fall in the eastern #Sierra Mountains and their foothills. The result was one of the best wildflower or superblooms on record for the state.'
Photographer Matej Mlakar: ‘Vršič Pass is a high mountain crossing across the Julian #Alps in north-western #Slovenia. It is the highest pass in Slovenia, as well as the highest in the eastern Julian Alps. One of those peaks is Prednje Robičje (1,941 metres or 6,368ft high), where this image was taken’
For #MountainMonday: A spring rainstorm flows from the clouds to the mountains in British Columbia, Canada. Eagle Mountain and the Buntzen Lake area appear to be receiving the brunt of the rainfall while the sun breaks through the clouds to the west.
Low clouds hang over the southern slopes of the Laguna Mountains as monsoonal moisture makes its way through the Southern California desert in September 2016. The solitary tree is a Pinyon Pine.
Vogelgesang von rechts wie links. Ein leises, laues Lüftchen mit wunderbar natürlichem Duft.
Und dazu eine malerische Aussicht.
Mehr braucht es wirklich nicht.
