Hey fediverse, I'm looking for #ops/#sysadmin advices:
I've got some dedicated servers and VPSes that I'd like to monitor SSH connections.
A tool that helps me know how many times a user logged in during a period of time (at least one year), duration of each sessions, and number of commands executed (I don't need the exact commands, just the number of commands, even if it's just "ls" or "cd").

should I record a music video with vocals for my “I’m Just Ken (Ops Edition)”parody?
yes, I changed the entire lyrics to fit with the theme of a morose #ops engineer / #sre while preserving musical fit and yes it is as ridiculous as it sounds
Just updated a server I hadn’t touched in over six years from Ubuntu 16.04 → 18.04 → 20.04 → 22.04 and it all went smoothly; not a single issue.
I can’t wait for a server with Fedora Silverblue-style upgrades (CoreOS?) that’s supported by the major VPS providers in default images. Tried a while back to get Hetzner to support CoreOS but the process appears somewhat stuck:
Welcome. It's not that I am #NewToMastodon, but I am rather #neuhier with regards to the server I am on, so please allow to introduce myself, politely:
This is a rather private profile, with occasional toots around German and local #politics, #football and my personal life decisions (they’ll bring me to hell, I bet, if you believe in such stuff).
I'm #antifascist, and a #nocar person, and from that I think it is easy to conclude on the rest of my political views. If in doubt, please ask. Be prepared that most of my views are leaning #left - Hegelian.
Having worked in #ops and considering myself as #philosophy nerd for years, I am currently looking into #dev and #infosec a bit more to find a more sustainable way of living as I am sure that humankind needs to change in that regards, and these four have to play a major role in that change.
Living in #Leipzig, #Germany I am happy to answer all questions around topics taking place in mid Europe, as I consider myself as European rather than German.
For those in research or innovation spaces, (including open source),
What is your method for assigning tasks, of different priority and involvement levels.
How do you differentiate between presenting volunteer/open that have one set of quality standards, vs other quality standards for different tasks-roles-responsibilities?
If there was a tool to keep track of your sites, regardless of where they were hosted, telling you their status, perhaps a one-click-login feature, would you use it?

in software we give our deployment environments names — Production, Staging, and Local. It’s Baseball season, so let’s have some fun and rename our environments.
From a batting perspective
Prod => At Bat
Stage => On Deck
Local => In the hole
From a Pitching perspective, one could use
Prod => Pitching
Stage => Warming up
Local => Bullpen
