I made a peach pie! My quest is completed. This from a big honking jar of Bulgarian peaches. It should keep me happy until the fresh local Ontario peaches come along in summer.

Thought I would post a bit of garden stuff now I'm indoors.

So what grew well for you this year? and what didn't!
Our early heatwave brought on the best harvest of Peach and Nectarines so far. The trees are about 15 years old . in a polytunnel and grown from thrown away stones. Final harvest was 25kg of peach, 6kg of nectarines. Although later summer was nowhere near as hot they still had amazing flavour.

Nope buying your fruit in bags doesn't make it "safer" than growing it or buying it from the farmer's market

Haven’t heard it in ages but Fuck the Pain Away just came on and it’s such a banger. Love &, now that I think about it, a lot of the electro(clash) of that era. Mind you, maybe now isn’t quite the time to be talking about how great the noughties were…

Georgia may be the Peach State but citrus trees are taking root as winters warm.

Grist reports "there are more than 500,000 trees across nearly 4,000 acres" in the state.

And some fun trivia: Though Georgia is the Peach State, two other states produce more of the fruit annually. https://flip.it/vnL59J

Peach season in . Time to put up in the freezer. Wash ripe peaches, slice, mix in ascorbic acid (Vit C powder) to prevent oxidation and spoon them into quart freezer bags. Best peaches from Western slope in CO.

There it is, Barbie is officially the #1 movie of 2023 in the US. I genuinely thought Mario had it locked in a couple months ago.

@matt No. I’m not accepting it. Sorry. Mario was the best movie of 2023, I don’t care what that source said.

I always thought > until I accidentally got a basket of nectarines last summer. Nectarines > peaches.

(Both only good when purchased locally in August in Ontario)

See how peaches are used as a term of endearment our culture. Do not malign the best fruit coming out of the South.

No more than a handful of peaches from my trees this year. The trees that have survived, that is. Maybe it's just getting too hot in the Florida panhandle to grow them anymore. Should have plenty of hard (and not very flavorful) pears, however.
