>300 #House lawmakers were reimbursed ≥$5.2M for #food & #lodging while on official business in Washington last year under a new, #TaxpayerFunded prgm that doesn’t require receipts.
The prgm, which kicked off last yr after a #Republican-led House panel passed it, was intended to make it easier for lawmakers to maintain separate homes in DC & their home districts.
The prgm has only a few rules: Lawmakers cannot be repaid for principal or interest on their mortgages, they can only get reimbursement for days they’re actually working in or flying to DC, & they can’t ask for more than their actual expenses. They’re also subject to daily spending caps determined by the GSA. They are “strongly encouraged,” but not required, to keep #records of their #expenses, acc/to guidance issued by the #House Cmte on Admin.
Our elders had a lot to say about us as a culture. We were so very depraved you see. But I've flipped through their record collections at thrift stores.. between every two gospel records? Smut. #records#vinyl#thrifting#smut
An #AbstractArt piece, the subject of which was suggested by a friend in the past year. While I have stuck to digital my childhood was vinyl and cassettes and which of those have survived? I'll let you guess. LOL
Happy #RecordStoreDay!! Here's a small portion of my vinyl collection, arranged in a colorful pattern and edited in a vintage camera color pallet and vignette.
My brain decided to bring up this memory for no reason today. Cereal box records. Back in the day, kid cereals would add cardboard records on the back of their boxes. You could cut them out and play them on any normal record player. The grooves were made with thin plastic and songs were pretty short.
Sure, it isn't #TSSTB or #IKSOSE3, but Vaxis 1: Unheavenly Creatures is some pretty great late era #CoheedAndCambria and better than Vaxis 2. Plus, the triple LP #vinyl is awesome.
From 60s R&B funk to sludge metal in the mid-2010s, a couple of 45s from classic New Orleans bands, The Meters and Eyehategod. Picked up at local NOLA recod shop, Sisters In Christ, along with a fun tote.
