@ProPublica just published their latest impact report. It’s a collection of information about the effect their journalism has had on the world. Their work is not only important, it’s verifiable.

I hate to say it, but there's a long running #donation#scam campaign regarding #lgbtq people in the #kakuma camp in #Kenya. I was contacted privately in the typical fashion (just "hi") by @ mawa@mastodon.world. Don't fall for it. If you want to help with the real dire situation, the attached reddit link has information and true donation links.
If you encounter #scammers, please #report them. And please #boost this for more awareness. https://www.reddit.com/r/lgbt/comments/wacwlw/regarding_kakuma_camp/
@samlitzinger I don’t often respond to these kinds of posts and perhaps I’ll regret this one. But here I am. Journalists don’t write what they “believe,” as this post suggests they should. They write what they are able to #report and verify, which is a big difference. That — not fairness, which is still a valuable attribute of good #journalism — is what keeps them from calling Trump a sociopath. If they’d want to report on someone else calling him a sociopath, that’s different.
Another #political#report from the country called #sweden. The #descent into full on #fascism is an agonizing and gut wrenching reality. A #gestapo inspired law that could force all citizens to report any suspected #illegal#migrants to #authorities is about to be approved by the #government. The conversation in media is not about the validity or moral wrongness of such a law instead it focuses on how it could be implemented. Big-ish #manifestations and #protests are happening, but nothing at the scale where #popularPower could challenge the government and stop them from doing this. Earlier this month a professor and his family publicly left the country becuase of the blatant #racism that is spewed in the news and in the media at large, sweden is #notSafe. As a very minor actor in social struggles, I feel like I stand on the sidelines robbed of all agency. I feel so horrible about everything. #fuckSweden#noBorder#depressing#fascism
'All 25 car brands we researched earned our *Privacy Not Included warning label -- making cars the official worst category of products for privacy that we have ever reviewed.'
"Fossil fuels benefited from record subsidies of $13m (£10.3m) a minute in 2022, according to the International Monetary Fund, despite being the primary cause of the climate crisis."
#Trump's so-called #report is a heap of laughable #bullshit. If he had all this #evidence, how come he didn't produce it in the 60+ #lawsuits he filed trying to get the #election overturned? Doesn't it seem a bit odd that it's only now, when he's facing more than 100 years in #prison, that he's got it all ready to go in a report? We should all collectively point and laugh at this moron, and his #pathetic#antics.
Last year, the American Wild Horse Campaign (#AWHC) released an explosive investigative #report that detailed the devastating and deadly consequences of the Bureau of Land Management's ( #BLM ) cash incentive-based adoption program, known as the Adoption Incentive Program ( #AIP ). The AIP pays individuals $1,000 per #animal to #adopt up to four wild, unhandled BLM #mustangs and #burros a year.
Just needed to report Fedi spam for the first time in a long while. It's pretty straightforward to do through Mastodon's web interface, but I thought it might be useful to post a reminder for anyone in a similar situation.
The report tool is one of the options in the pull-down menu that you access through the three dots "..." icon (with mouseover text "More") at the bottom of a post.
