In St. John's they have a really unusual aquarium, called The Fluvarium. It's essentially windows into a stream with salmon and trout. It's not, if I'm honest, the best tourist attraction, but it can make for some fun fishy photos!

What are the "protests" yesterday about?

Please see section Myth busting 6 (MB6). It's about a 2 minute read.

Q4 through Q9 in the FAQ are also good ones to check out.

Hope this helps! Cheers!

Just saw Freecycle.org data breach 😿 Prompts to change passwords.

I've used it in Calgary to re-home second-hand , perfectly usable stuff. I buy books but don't keep hem. Freecycle helped me find a funnel of folks who wanted them.

I see on there, but no posts. Anyone in know what other site/service is used to connect folks to exchange free things?

I post this knowing few NLers on the fediverse. If you know some folks living there, boost it to them? Thanks. 🌞

I understand that newspapers need support through subscriptions, but I often worry about about how this makes reliable information a luxury for those with the means to afford it.

Meanwhile misinformation & disinformation are widely accessible & free.

We visited the Queer Market at St. John's Farmers' Market. It was pretty packed; I started getting anxiety even with a mask. I've never been in such a large crowd of and people.

A couple people were at a table selling "free hug" buttons (I bought one trans and one rainbow). I think they noticed my eyes watering at the sight, and asked if I needed a hug.

    Hey there & brain trust:

The NE leg of this intersection has a signalized w/ beg button. Town staff just converted it to rest-in-walk, which is lovely. But there's a permissive yellow that allows drivers from the arterial to turn left while the sign is active.

We may have the option to* either*:

    • keep the rest-in-walk
      or
    • eliminate the permissive yellow but lose the rest-in-walk

    yeoman,

@DrTCombs I didn't know what "rest-in-walk" was so looked it up and found this "By using 'Rest in Walk,' the crosswalk will sit in the Walk interval until a conflicting vehicle or pedestrian places a call." But how do they "place a call"? And if they can "place a call", why would there also be a permissive yellow turning light? Here in we don't have either of those features--car drivers just turn when they feel like it.
