I haven't been in Twitter for awhile and I'm pushing a big fundraiser so figured it's a waste of resources to not push there, while I still have access to it.
But in this time I was away, owner of the platform has gone from "I pretend to support Ukraine" to full "I'm gonna spread russian propaganda openly and try to get you all killed by withdrawing support"
For the love of God, please try to get your friends to switch to whatever, even Threads will be better at this point.
Over in the strange birdie site, Elon Musk tells the world he about to remove the ability to block users who resort to bullying and harassment. Whether this for supposed 'free speech' or because he wants advertisers to have full access to everyone, who knows. One thing for certain, we'll see another massive surge of new users over here on Mastodon. #Twitterrefugees
After some initial good results Threads is mostly showing me celebrity-influence content despite my muting a large number. I wonder if the people I follow are not posting much.
My Mastodon feeds have been relatively quiet as well.
Happily the Utepils Sunday bike ride is starting soon! (Minneapolis brew pub weekly event, 4 road and 3 singletrack groups. Twin Cities summers are insane.)
For all the new #TwitterRefugees and #TwitterDown escapees, here's the blueberry muffin recipe my mom used when I was wee. There. Now we're friends. Go make some muffins for your perfect self.
The text of the recipe is in the image description of the photos if you'd rather have that.
Hello, #introduction
I'm back here escaping from Twitter and wanting to stay permanently.
I enjoy reading Australian news and economics. #AusEcon#Economics#AusNews
I'm passionate about #equality for all.
Our family have been #covidsafe throughout the pandemic.
Hopefully I'll find people with similar interests 🙏
@HardBeingGreen
Thank you!
Yes, we need to grow the community and #twitterrefugees need to stay.
I miss reading journalists' and Aus Institute & Grattan Institute tweets. Are there any journalists and think tanks here?
We start a new game each evening at 9pm EST. Play when you can. Some games play for days but we do start a new game each night.
We ask our players to include #HashTagGames so non-players, if they really exist, can mute that tag and not get the game noise in their timelines from the new nightly game hashtags.
I know for a lot of you this is a temporary migration, and you'll head back once they fix the problems.
But before you go back to twitter, take this thought with you: the owners of twitter don't just push their agendas at you. You already know that, and probably think it doesn't affect you. But what you don't see is how much stuff is gone there now. You don't see who's gone, or what views aren't there anymore
I know I don’t post much here but as the owner of the bad place seems determined to ruin it, just posting under the #DoctorWho tag so any new #TwitterRefugees who might recognise me can see me.
(I look forward to Mastodon veterans showing up in my mentions to tell me this violates protocol.)
My name is Max. I live in the Kansas City metro area; I work as a #ProjectManager, and am married with two kids. Interested in many geeky things (#PowerPlatform, #Python, #DataScience) and I crack jokes about work life and #productivity. (And I post a lot of messed up aphorisms.)
With the latest #TwitterExodus, I’m seeing some new folks say it’s been hard to find other #resisters here on Mastodon. Let’s help them out.
Whether you’re already established or are new, drop a comment to say hi (and maybe why you resist if it’s not already in your bio), and then we can all follow back. Then boost so more folks can get connected! #TwitterMigration
@KarGar727@dhstokyo There are a few tips that helped me get started. Go to a post you like and boost, boost, boost. Then follow everyone on that post who’ve boosted it or liked it. The more you follow the sooner your timeline fills up. Remember, there are no algorithms here, you are the curator of your timeline. Like different things, find hashtags you like, follow those people who post and make sure you use hashtags in your own posts! #TwitterRefugees #TwitterMigration #VoteBlue
