#Yarnuary where have you traveled for yarn? Whenever I go to a place I seek out the yarn store (obviously). But in 2023 after a work trip to Seattle I spent a night on Bainbridge Island mostly to hit up two yarn stores - La Mercerie and The Lamb and Kid. I bought so much yarn, some of which i had shipped, so this is only part of the haul. #yarn#knitting#FiberArts@knitting (remove group in reply)
Holy f*@k - I did a Thing!
I inherited a part ball of variegated yarn - which I dislike using because I feel it's disorganized, chaotic and messy looking. But I've seen this thing done online and decided to spend a day screwing around and tried it. It bloody worked. (Eventually) I'm amazed. A combination of programming and sorcery.
My favourite colour for yarn is probably rainbow. As a sock knitter, I keep making rainbow socks. Fingering is my usual weight and my sock yarn of choice are wool, preferably merino. #yarnuary#yarn
Anything from pink to purple. I'm happy work nearly any shade in that spectrum, be it a light shade of rose, bright pink (not neon though) or dark aubergine.
Even my hair is usually dyed somewhere in that range of colors.
Theoretically I'm the fall type (if you believe in the for season color theory), but I like warm and cool shades equally.
A close second is turquoise and all shades of blue-green.
#Yarnuary - my favourite yarns generally are Superwash Merino/nylon blends by independent dyers. This lot are all 4-ply (fingering) weight. The intense red is called 'Furnace' by @mothyandthesquid. Also love anything tactile and soft!
Sleeve ribbing done. Decided which end will be the front, so I van move on with edging and button holes. Can't wait to have this blocked. #crochet#handspun#yarn#fiberarts@fiberarts
Yesterday, I finished this cropped jumper. It needs blocking because the bottom edge keeps curling up.
I made this with various sockweight yarns, but with 2 strands together and using 6mm needles.
I may turn it into a cardigan by steeking up the front like I did with my snowflake jumper, but I will see how it fares as a jumper before I make a permanent change!
Any of my followers intimately familiar with yarn's package.json syntax and protocols? I'm getting a version error when trying to apply a patch using the "patch:" protocol and I can't figure out why
Been troubleshooting for almost an hour with no progress. Halp plz :3
EDIT: Well, it turns out that I had somehow been configured to use yarn classic (v1) instead of modern yarn (v4) :neofox_confused:
I do believe it did act up when I tried to selfhost on a vps ..
I believe I did somehow resolve it kand then fail elsewhere and gave up on #selfhosting ..
Me: I have too much yarn already, I shouldn't seek out end-of-year yarn sales.
Also me: But digital knitting patterns don't take up any space! And there's a bunch on sale! And I do need to know what to do with all my yarn, so this is a good use of money.
Crochet teapot purse complete! I could probably add more detail but I'm actually happy with it. More stuff may get added as I see how it works during use.

I almost completely free styled this. I started with an amigurumi potted plant base and I used a pattern for the roses I found online but the rest I kind of made up as I went. I'm really happy with the outcome. On the next one I want to figure out a way to make the lid more sturdy and I need to find a better leaf pattern but overall I like how this turned out.
A medieval unicorn riding blanket tapestry that just went to it's forever home. I wove it years ago, (having a little separation anxiety). 22"x30" not counting fringe. #weaving#textile#yarn
Progress report on new #freeformcrochet project. Top of the back and both arms shown, in double knit hand-dyed merino, also chunky recycled plastic bottles and a bit of metallic/Angora. Inspiration... Georgia O'Keeffe, body parts in a grey/red palette. The rest of the yarn is a lighter 4-ply. I needed a heavier yarn for everything to hang from. Much more surface work to do on the joined scrumbles.
Started another pair of #socks In case you’re wondering, I joined a sock #yarn of the month club this year. Now that we’re ending the year, I thought it was time to start #knitting 🤣🤣
I'm working on sorting through my yarn stash so I can make a start on using it up rather than just having a lot of boxes around the house with random balls of yarn in.
I've got a lot of sockweight, DK, and chunky yarns - but this is super chunky, I dont have any other yarn the same weight, and I have no idea what to make with it - anyone got any suggestions?? #yarn#knitting#knit#knitter#crochet#crocheter#handmade#stashbusting#yarndiet
The thing I am good at (beautiful yarn) and the thing I am bad at (customer service). In a perfect world I could create the colourways, do all the behind the scenes work, and that would be enough. This is a gorgeous tonal wine colour, perfect for the winter season. Surely it will “sell itself”, as they say?
