A lot of people still think about Covid as a wash your hands and socially distance kind of thing.

Chances of getting Covid from touching something is near zero and we're far more likely to catch it from someone we can't see because it can stay in the air for a long time, drift long distances, and remain potent long after a contagious person is gone (as much as 2 hours).

This is why improving ventilation is one of the most important things you can do to reduce risks of infection for yourself and people around you. With good air flow, an infectious person is less dangerous. Infected air is diluted and can't linger to keep infecting.

I took a variety of CO2 readings to estimate indoor air quality. Based on these readings, places I wouldn't want to be unmasked would be: house gatherings, offices, meeting rooms, conventions, public transit, a plane, funerals.

Places that may not be as risky as originally believed are: supermarkets, pharmacies, and restaurants.

@evan yes thank you for being explicit. Transparency is important. I remember donating to Tamil Rice’s mother after her child was murdered by Cleveland police. Sean King raised $25000 and Samara Rice never received a penny. Very cautious about white folks (like myself) collecting money on behalf of people of color. To assume “they” need “our” management or supervision is another form of so-called white supremacy (sic).

Hello members! Meta/Facebook has plans to join the Fediverse (https://mastodon.social/@fediversereport/110011775459235299). Many instance admins have committed to block any FB-run instances; others feel that federation will lead to growth of non-commercial social media and provide FB users with more choice.

To be honest, I'm conflicted. FB as a company is irresponsible and untrustworthy (https://www.amnesty.org/en/latest/news/2022/09/myanmar-facebooks-systems-promoted-violence-against-rohingya-meta-owes-reparations-new-report/). Their content moderation policies are questionable at best, their business model exploits users.

@paul Thankyou for your thoughtful and open minded approach. I was only on Facebook for a few months, a decade ago. Because I immediately connected with family members who are deeply conservative I got caught up in some algorithm that fed me viscously hatefilled content. I personally want nothing to do with Facebook. I feel that we stand to lose everything.

@mrcompletely when frosting or melted chocolate is dribbled in a thin line back and forth over a cookie or croissant, some of the frosting ends up on the parchment paper underneath. When that chocolate or frosting hardens on the parchment it is called scrobbling. It is like scribbling that you gobble, thus scrobbling.
