The medical practice I've patronized for almost 30 years in the Bay Area lifted its mask mandate for its employees and patients. IMO it's grossly irresponsible, and will lead to more illness and deaths -- especially among older patients. I'm actively looking for a practice that requires masks, but suspect -- given America's total capitulation to covid -- I won't find one.

@dangillmor The hospital whose post-COVID clinic I go to just lifted its mask mandate. My next appointment is in July. Will providers treating patients keep masking? If not, I will scream bloody murder.

Change your inputs, change your engines to not use carbon, design for the new energy sources, can it be done?

Volkswagen is doing it, it can be done. Stop expanding, planning for, exploring for oil, Save that money. Don't subsidize oil companies, save that money. Don't build pipelines, save those billions.

Build wind generation, build solar collection systems.

Volkswagen did it, it can be done. And pretty too.

There are 7 billion of us, we have the hands, build as smart as VW

@atomicpoet @socialmedianews It's worse than that. LinkedIn is filled with fake accounts running scams of various sorts. I get a couple messages a week on there from scammers. And reporting them accomplishes nothing.

Matt Blaze @mattblaze takes aim in a recent post at the absurd default cropping behavior for images (https://federate.social/@mattblaze/110380464934526966).

The one thing, besides dark mode, most responsible for turning off new users its that feeds display a bunch of incomprehensible image junk.

This should be changed, but this is how it is. What can you do?

@mastodonmigration @mattblaze Do people not know this? If you add alt text to an image, it tells you right there how to adjust the focal point of the image to control what viewers see in their timelines. I know some people are too lazy to add alt text, but I have no sympathy for those folks.

@mastodonmigration @mattblaze That would be an upgrade, but I find shifting the focal point always lets me get what matters into the frame people see in their timeline. But I'm not a pro photographer and have no expectation of perfection.

@emilygorcenski @Cherteapet Are you saying they won't take a Bail Bonds company? Usually you give the bail bondsman 10% of the bail amount, and they put up the rest and come after you if they actually have to fork over the money.

@Cherteapet @emilygorcenski It's been pointed out to me that these are federal, not state charges. I'm not sure that changes things much, but if he used a bail bondsperson, they usually take just 10% cash up front, i.e. $50K for a $500K bond.
