I think one of the reasons so little attention is being paid to the famine is because of decades and decades of "starving kids in Africa" messaging.

Westerners see the abject suffering the Sudanese are enduring and subconsciously think that this is normal, that this is the logical condition of an African people.

It is not normal. It is a result of colonialist exploitation. I think that collectively we must do better in not only including but centering African struggles in our activism.

Paris is a very weird place for a number of reasons (there are very few tall buildings because the ground is made out of tombs & skeletons & bizarre stuff), but the Eiffel Tower has an apartment in it. That dude Eiffel was just like, well, I’m designing and building this thing, may as well live here. I don’t think it is normally available to the public, but you can see it through the windows (which also adds another level of chaos). I believe you can hypothetically stay there overnight for like $100,000 or something. It’s kind of a shithole though just FYI

Also another insanely bizarre thing is that near the Washington Monument is another Washington Monument, but it is underground. It’s not accessible, because it is used for mapping data (for whatever reason). But yeah, there is a manhole cover that just randomly houses a smaller Washington Monument

Train fact. Most trains say where they're going on the front. However you will sometimes see trains marked "driver's discretion". This means the driver gets to decide where it goes. Why not get on a drivers discretion train today? It can be a fun alternative to going somewhere you want.

Good that Andy Burnham and others are talking about abolishing ‘right to buy’, the disastrous Thatcherite policy that continues to destroy so many lives.

Yet we need to go further and introduce ‘right to buy back.’ Any former council homes now being privately rented out should be buyable back by councils with the same percentage discount they were originally sold for.
