Forgive me if I delete this later. I might not even publish it. I want to start by saying I am not proud of having been in the #USmilitary. I was hard up for money so I went for a job to take care of my family. I served in #Afghanistan.
I had no delusions about what the US was doing there. We were securing #pipeline routes for US #oil companies and punishing the #Taliban for not honoring a deal, made by the previous regime, with those US oil companies.
I had several brushes with death. Many people there wanted us dead and they had every right to kill us. We were foreign invaders in their homeland. We were there to steal land from them for US oil pipelines. I won't go into details about the events that almost killed me. That isn't what this is about. The thing that got under my skin the most was a day I went to the base hospital. I think I had rolled my ankle. While I was there waiting, I saw and heard an Afghan woman and a small child, less than 2 years old. The little boy was crying non-stop. I could see puncture wounds all over his body and holes in his clothes. I saw little bits of glass sticking out of him in a few places. It seemed apparent that some kind of explosion had broken a window near where this kid had been.
I wondered for a moment which side had caused the explosion. I quickly came to the conclusion that it didn't matter. If the USA wasn't trying to control the world's oil supply this wouldn't have happened. The Afghan woman was rocking and caressing the child and trying to soothe him but nothing she could do would stop the pain. If my fucking country would just stop using fossil fuels and trying to own the planet, the explosion that broke that window wouldn't have occurred. That little kid would have been somewhere playing or sleeping. I am crying and want to vomit just writing about it. Seeing images of kids in #Gaza crying right now on the web is fucking me up. It's all connected. The USA supports Israel, even in #genocide because the existence of #Israel helps the USA control oil in the Middle East. Look at a map of the pipelines. Look where the ports for oil tankers are. Look at the land Israel has stolen from neighboring countries and what pipelines run under it. While you are at it, look at #Ukraine through the same lens.
This is a #ResourceWar. This is #genocide This is #evil
