Universal basic income mitigates tunneling, meaning that people are more able to think beyond just one focus. The need to earn survival income tends to function like blinders that block out everything else but your focus on basic needs. Until they're obtained, we can't think beyond.

I’m very fond of stories in a universe where some advanced, but long vanished, race of enigmatic aliens has left behind strange artifacts: like puzzle boxes or dungeons for our heroes to explore and nearly get killed in. If not aliens let it be a lost human civilization.

I also like to think about those ancient people who built the ‘Temple of Doom’— for all of those traps to work so well after thousands of years they must have been very clever. What was it like to set them up?

This is crazy. Stable diffusion created a verification image of someone doing their KYC for a bank or similar. AI will impact Know-Your-Customer identity verification processes. As AI makes it easier & cheaper to impersonate someone’s likeness and identity markers (often found in a breach) it will become simpler for attackers to takeover accounts and steal money, data, impact brands, etc.

It was never secure to take presenting a webcam picture of an ID card and a person as some kind of evidence that you are who you say you are. Banks and other institutions need to stop deciding other people are you just because they can produce pictures of your stuff.

    Surveillance advertising has lots of overhead.

    There's extra clientside processing gathering data (this bit has been measured).
    There's extra networking downloading those javascripts & uploading their data.
    There's extra serverside processing deciding which ads to show you.
    The ads need to be downloaded (which gets more expensive as they get more "engaging").
    Increasingly there's the time waiting to be able to dismiss the ad.

    All there solely to get you to buy more stuff! Unacceptable!
