This Silver Palmetto is blooming. It is a cousin of the Saw Palmetto, which has shiny green fronds instead of these silver-green fronds. The flowers will later produce berries that are harvested by some folks as a treatment for enlarged prostate, but this not a proven remedy.

A closer view of the flowers of the silver palmetto. They are thin spikes that point in all different directions, and are yellow-green in color. They will later produce berries that some people harvest for treatment of enlarged prostate, although this is not a proven remedy.

Palms are blooming this time of year. This is a cluster of flowers that just popped out of a long slender pod on the Robellini Palm.

In a fit of nostalgia, I bought an old m105 from . I blame @neil — his stories of buying old hardware obviously inspired me.

Now to see what I can do with it, and if I can get it to sync with my 24.04 laptop.

Rescued yet another old smartphone (Palm Treo) whose rubery plastic has become sticky/goo-ey (de-polymerization) by using an ultrasonic bath with Tickopur TR14, a chemical intended for removing flux residue from circuit boards

So much of the modern experience traces back to the “too early for its time” Pre line of handsets. This exquisite video history explains how, as well as why Palm didn’t survive long after the Pre launch.

Side note: I think June 2009 is the last time I actually stood in line to buy a handset on launch day. It was for the Pre at a Sprint store. Fond memories!

Interesting retro tech find. I’m just having a bit of a clear-out and I came across this old translucent cased Palm IIIe. Long superseded product but I still think the case is cool. Dates back to about 1999 if Wikipedia is an accurate guide. I’ve long forgotten most of what I once knew about these so I’m not sure if the IIIe falls within the description PalmPilot, or whether they’re regarded as separate things.

I never got to play Megaball on the but I loved it's inspired remake, DX-Ball on the

I just recently I discovered Ababall and loaded it onto my device and am having a blast with it.

What are some of your favorite ball and bat / Arkanoid style games?

Ababall on the Palm OS line of devices. Rows of blocks are arranged in different colors.
