Achievement unlocked, rolled a virtual dice with my hands.

A pair of hands made of bananas pick up a giant D20 and throw it, in VR.

Apple recommended keeping the Macintosh Horizontal Product’s key switch locked in the On position for user safety.

@NanoRaptor

This never became popular due to it requiring 2 people to operate, one on the keyboard and the other controlling the trackpad and to read the screen, balanced on their laps.
Codenamed the "Duo", it was originally designed as a dating computer, where people could find out if they were compatible. The development of dating websites on the then new World Wide Web obviated the need for such a product.
The only remnant of the product was the codename Duo and the term laptop.

If I were to go hunt down an old ThinkPad as the one ThinkPad for my collection, given the Wallstreet PowerBook is one of my ever-favourites, what year & model should I be hovering around?

cstross,
@cstross@wandering.shop avatar

@guffo @NanoRaptor In particular you want the Thinkpad 701P model with the PowerPC 603e processor running MacOS 7 during that brief period when IBM was courting Apple and paying the MacOS license fee! An absolute classic, and as rare as hens teeth.

As I just posted elsewhere online:

“Oh my fucking god is this how thinking should work?!? What the hell. What the fuck. You all didn’t have this all the time did you? And not tell me?”

First adhd medication dose. This is really, really clear.

NanoRaptor,

@violator it’s like I can be distracted by a thing and it doesn’t immediately dump all other thoughts and memory. The previous thoughts are there and accessible and I can put them in a place they need to be. And if the distraction turns out to be just that, a distraction I don’t need to attend to, I can just find every one of the previous thoughts I had and return to them without effort. I have never been able to do that before. And here it’s happening as I type. I know what I was doing before

Do you like Borg Cubes?
Do you like cubic servers?
Then I have a fun video for you:

Honestly the best incidental audio timings were all a coincidence — the “squeak” of the tray removal, the LED lighting up, and the green blinking lights on the drive bays — all pure luck on the first attempt, when dragging clips onto the timeline.

You get to make one change to any single genus of animal that’s immediately applied to all of its members worldwide.

What do you change for maximum chaos?

Today's project is re-writing Catalina for 8-bit support, but I'm having issues getting logging in to work. Or actually anything at all. Honestly this is just fever dreaming isn't it. Am I real?

The 128D is real, though, and one of the better looking Commodore 8-bit machines.
