But what will happen is mastodon users will be harassed, racism, antisemitism, homophobia, transphobia will explode. And Bluesky just like nostr will do absolutely nothing about it. It's a feature to them not a flaw.

Mastodon can and definitely should decide their servers won't link to servers and services that are designed with the intent of allowing the sharing of hateful content.

Not one single network that's tried allowing unrestrained free speech has been successful in the market place.

I know I won't go back to twitter, twitter-like, or even twitter lite (bluesky). Mastodon has shown that social media doesn't have to be anti-social.

I would posit their business model is the same as twitter before musk destroyed it. Spreading derisiveness and creating division. Piplining people into the Alt-right.

Disinformation is knowingly false information spread with the intention to deceive. It should absolutely not be tolerated on social media.

Misinformation, unknowingly false or inaccurate information—getting the facts wrong. should be handled by informing the person that it's incorrect and providing sources to the correct information, after that if they continue to attempt to spread it, then it becomes disinformation.

When a black man asked about the claims that using Mastodon was somehow bad for black people on the Black Mastodon hashtag, someone shared an interview critiquing the platform.

However, upon reading the interview, it appears that the person making the criticism does not understand how Twitter often suppresses and limits marginalized voices and makes it difficult for them to reach their intended audience, unlike Mastodon.

Twitter's algorithms often amplify voices that already have a large following, making it more challenging for underrepresented individuals to break through and get noticed, they also algorithmically punish people for daring to step out of of their twitter defined boxes.

Mastodon is a valuable alternative for those who want to actually connect with their community and share their voice on social media.

These critiques read like they come from a person who wants to defend twitter after Elon Musk's takeover of the platform, and who has never personally used mastodon.

@wndlb They also don't understand the responsiveness of the moderation systems on mastodon (at least on the official servers), and the tools that mastodon provides that enable users to protect themselves if needed.

I have regularly had abuse reports on Musk's twitter that took over 6 months to be dealt with, and over 3/4th of the times twitter said things were not violations of their policies even if they were explicitly prohibited by the sites rules.

@atomicpoet Based on his support of Nostr, #Mastodon and #ActivityPub should have nothing to do with him.

Nostr, and quite likely Blue Sky wants to make it impossible to ban or remove a users access for violating server or network policies. This is a recipe for rampant hate and bigotry, along with harassment and hate speech. Something twitter seemed designed to encourage from the very start.
