The point of solar panels is not to ensure "solar profitability," but to make for a greener, better world. Its profitability is only justified insofar as it moves us towards that goal. If we want to switch to renewables, then sometimes we're going to have surplus, because of how renewables work. This is well known and discussed ad nauseam. If that makes power markets unstable, then the problem is with markets, not with there being too many solar panels.

"Just use Linux" is much like "just ride a bike" or "just shop at a refill store" - accessing the non default option can be time consuming, expensive or unavailable locally. We need to recognise you need a certain degree of privilege to have the capacity to complicate your life voluntarily. We need to be trying to make the better, harder thing more accessible, not blaming people for not using it.

With the introduction of Dolby Surround 7.1 in 2010, Sony were eager to put out a full home theater system. One of their early models, the HT-A7.100, included a revolutionary evolution to the standard stereo jack: the 7.1 surround jack, allowing all 8 channels to be sent over one cable.

Two mini projects I recently made, shown in their natural environment .

On the left:
8x8 matrix of WS2816 LEDs on a 12.2x12.2mm PCB. Package is 1313, gap between the LEDs is 0.2mm. Driven by a @wizard Pixelblaze.

On the right:
Hand-soldered LED strip with a density of 1000 LED/m using side emitting addressable LEDs with a thickness of 1mm.
