@rebeccawatson This happens here in FRANCE, too. If you are registered under Authors and Artists category, they bill you in advance for what they THINK you might earn. And yes, there are additional 'fees' if you don't pay those estimated costs on time each quarter.
Years ago, I realized I was forgetting more than I recalled about the many studies I read that found #COVID19 was NOT just a mild, acute illness but led to chronic health problems. So, I created a spreadsheet to track these studies. Over the last two years or so, I've read significant parts of over 1,500 research studies, and my spreadsheet is approaching 525 reports that demonstrate COVID leaves people with damage to brains, hearts, immune systems, reproductive systems, and other organs. (1/5)
The exclusion of Covid in major news reporting about the global hospital and healthcare system collapse is an active choice, based either in denial or collusion, and it’s happening everywhere.
What a great, helpful article:
"What to do if you get COVID
Practical tips to protect yourself from the long tail of risk.
The available science says that there are differences in outcomes for people based on the choices they make after they get COVID, provided they move quickly."
@EllieK It's saddening, nerve-wracking, & isolating to see how few people here, both native French & English-speaking immigrants, pay attention to safety aspects nowadays. We no longer socialise, full stop. We've had it once 'courtesy' of husband's British clients. Ignored his requests for no one else at house while he was painting & tiling & did a check-in, sans masks, after a boozy lunch with infected friends. 2 days later, voila, Covid. 19 mo. later -- still have Long-Covid.
A person very close to me just got #covid . It's not over. Stop acting like it is. Mask up. Get HEPA filters in all places where people congregate. Just fucking wise up!
@harold I had a FB post removed from a regional group here in France last night after citing a new article about the current uptick in Covid. Generally, people here just laugh about it or tell us to shut up about something that's "no longer an issue." (aarrgghh!)
😂 Elon Musk just crawled from under a rock and discovered something that has been bothering people for years. It is just too funny not to share this one.
The world economy never recovered from Covid. - “Britain sank into recession this week. So did Japan, with its decline so bad that it lost its spot as the world’s No. 3 economy.”
@noyes@sidereal@_L1vY_@Brad@VeeRat 🙄 Similar issues in the 'medical desert' that France has become. Emergency rooms close at dinner time! You must call a 'gatekeeper' number and obtain permission before you leave for the hospital because they are so short-staffed.
@sidereal@noyes@_L1vY_@Brad@VeeRat It's quite unsettling to watch the caring & reliable European-wide health care we've had in the past slipping away. Many doctors, nurses, specialists, dentists, & surgeons retired early or changed careers as soon as the pandemic was 'officially' declared over. Equally important, younger doctors or nurses are changing degree programs, avoiding medicine altogether due to 60-hour schedules & ridiculously low pay. The NHS in the UK is in a similar dilemma.
