The biggest influence Jon Spencer had on my life is when they recorded the video for "Talk About the Blues", their one track to ever get significant MTV attention, they got Winona Rider, Giovanni Ribisi and an obscure actor named John C. Reilly to pretend to be the band and lip-synch the music in the performance shots. I didn't know this. So then when John C. Reilly got big, I spent years every time I saw him going "man, that guy looks so much like the drummer from Jon Spencer Blues Explosion"

Only 34% of 🇺🇸 oppose a ceasefire, and the vast majority of the country supports it, including over 50% of all Jews. Yet the continues to spread the malicious lie that says supporting a ceasefire is antisemitic. Because ADL has never been about fighting , which can be demonstrated by the way they claim the Sonnenrad — the notorious Black Sun of white supremacist movements — isn't actually racist on their website, in order to protect the US government's alliances with various white supremacists movements who proudly display the Sonnenrad.

Heads up, if you try to argue the Black Sun is not a white supremacist symbol in my comments, I will block. This is an antifascist zone of discourse.

@Alon @BlackAzizAnansi I'm curious about which European fat right is not pro-Israel; The ones that use dogwhistles instead of swastikas have been all in on the whole "Muslims are a threat to our civilization" thing for decades now, and those are the ones that are touching power at the moment. Who wants a recursive headache?
One of my very bright students is writing a program to evaluate the total resistance in a network of resistors. She came up with these nested lists to represent the network. The top level is in series and it alternates series and parallel as you go deeper.
[r1, [r2, r3],[[r4, r5,],r6],r7]
That’s r1 + 1/[1/r2+ 1/r3]+ 1/[1/(r4+r5) + 1/r6] + r7
Or
s(r1, p(r2,r3), p(s(r4, r5), r6), r7)
So this ought to be a piece of cake to parse recursively right? right??

It'll probably be more efficient, as it's not recursive , and proving it from Kirchoff 's laws is a more fun problem (if she's into that sort of thing).

There's another method called node analysis (I think) which is similar but easier IIRC
