I could become a CS guy or a politician, but I was more money than power-hungry, when I had to choose.
In the end I got neither, so I cosplay both.
Here mostly #FOSS, #OpenStreetMap, and #EuropeanUnion for some reason, but I also strive to be fun at parties.

The fact that Notion will automatically launch its AI commands (which, afaik, is a paid feature I haven't subscribed to but it's trying to upsell me on) as soon as I press 'space' in an open text field is insane. Not some special character like /, but space!!!

Imo Nothing should release a keyboard next.

  • the transparent/quirky design would totally translate to a keyboard
  • some light gimmick would work too.

Hi and developers! Could you share a secret sauce to making these simple and beautiful popover / hamburger menus? From what I gathered, they could be defined in Gio MenuModels, but is there anything more to their look? Reading the established automagical codebase as a newcomer is painful, because the ingredients for something this small are spread over multiple source files with generic functions initialising them.

Opened popover menu from the GNOME Files app

The kernel is supposed to be the most stable part of the OS. Requiring few updates once the core features are working.

@Techaltar Great video as usual, but at the same time "(& how to save it)" in the title gives a quite funny feeling as if anyone besides MS should care that it drops from basically the only PC OS to oh-so-irrelevant 60% market share. I assume that it's just a shorter version of "and how it could be saved".
Second thing, are you sure that Signal belong to category 3 and not 2? If so, that would be quite funny, since AFAIK it's still (unfortunately) an Electron app.

Hi, I'm stuck waiting on laundry to finish and am bored, so why don't I come on here and write some hot takes about YouTube?

I mean, I can think of several reasons, but too bad I'll do it anyway.

Knowing the leanings of the folks on this particular platform this is likely to spark some debate, but note that I'm not trying to paint YouTube as a saint - in fact, the first thing I want to talk about is a strategy they've taken which puts me and all YT creators in a weird place:

    etua_en, (edited )
    @etua_en@ieji.de avatar

@TechConnectify "it neutralizes many of the platform's weird tendencies because serving relevant ads to the viewer is no longer a concern"
I'd probably pay the price IF I was openly told that I'm no longer tracked on this profile while I watch with premium.
As for now, Google still has such incentive for: 1. Other services like search. 2. The time I'd stop paying.
Services without their own ad business like Nebula are more credible, so I gave them money instead and watch YT logged out.
