Scanning and bagging my groceries is not beneath me, but I resent providing my labor as a cost-saving measure for the grocery store. If the store is not going to staff cashiers, then it needs to open more self-checkout lanes including the one or two self-checkout lanes that have a long converbelt. I do not enjoy having to play tetris to bag my large order and having the computer continually prompt me because I am going too slow or not doing what is expected. This is why I hate self-checkout. I find techno-harassment alienating.
