You get spied on by Microsoft, any asshole in the world knows what to do: you get a Distro with a 25 year reputation, an indestructible economy shitbox laptop, you update once a week and that's your base, get me? That's your fortress of fucking solitude. That puts you, for the rest of your life, at a level of fuck you. Somebody wants to install malware, fuck you! Own your laptop. Have a couple flatpaks. Dont drink. That's all I have to say to anybody on any social level."

People didn't switch over to in large numbers after Windows ME, or XP/Blaster, or Wanna cry, or nsakey, or Vista's DRM, or Windows 8, or Windows 10's telemetry. It never happened. They just accepted it, or tried Linux for a few weeks before going back. Or they bought a MacBook.

This time is not going to be different.

The Overton window here is whatever lets people play video games.

Regulation is the only thing that will protect us.

23 years later, Antitrust is still a great movie. Featuring Gnome desktop and all the anti-Microsoft sentiment from the 90's. We all wanted to be Milo.

Up next: Hackers.

What are some other movies to watch?

TL;DR There is no safe way to use TikTok, and our strong recommendation is to delete the app from all your devices.

@protonprivacy There's no safe way to use Facebook or X/Twitter or Instagram or WhatsApp ... where are the articles telling you to delete the apps that lead to an actual insurrection? Or hosted by a company that turned chat conversations over to law enforcement so they could prosecute people who have abortions?

A week or so later, one good thing about the is how it all pretty much played out on Mastodon and in the . The discussion wasn't on #x or , not or or whatever. Analysis and investigation and discussion happened here on . Even magazine gave credit.

That's a pretty cool milestone.

Do you turn off (s) in via Settings > Accessibility > Viewing > Reduce Animation to make everything snappy, or do you leave them enabled and enjoy the smooth (er) experience?
Personally, I jump back and forth. I love the animations, but on both my and my it occasionally happens that they which drives me crazy. 🤪😝🫣🤭

@amadeus I use the Impatience extension to speed the animations up to about 2x the original speed.

I'm a little torn with my daily driver setup currently.
So far, I use a Ryzen system for my daily tasks.
Or better: Call it endless procrastination about what to drive on the desktop.... mentally stuck right now.

I do not need much. Web surfing, programming, reading and some retro games.

Contemplating if switchung over to my laptop full time.

Yes, the Ryzen can game modern games... but I kinda lost interest in that.

How would you guys decide?

was Red Hat Linux 5.2 on a 486 with 12Megabytes of RAM. It could only do 256 colors, but not the standard 8-bit color palette; any 256 colors supported by the card. So you could have like 200 shades of red and then like 56 colors used by the fvwm desktop for example. Reboot the XFree86 server and you could get a different set of up to 256 colors. I used fvwm95 but then moved to IceWM and hosted some themes in those days.
