Can you participate in a thought experiment with me? The posts warning about fascism are good, but I'm wondering what you think fascism actually looks like. Give a thought, and list what it looks like. Don't just say "the end of democracy." List what the concrete changes will be and make it local. "In my town/city/county/state the following will happen......" Think about it before replying. Not just for .

@fulanigirl @blackmastodon people I am close to will be rounded up and deported. Their US born children will be left without parents or forced to join their parents in a country they don’t know. Me and my entire family will be targeted with threats or real violence by neighbors or others who know our background and where we stand. Our property will also be targeted. Won’t be able to travel to see family even if we don’t cross the border because checkpoints will expand.

Some of my neighbors certainly think I’m a bit odd (if not plain batshit crazy) for getting up to train at ass o’clock in the morning, but just the sunrises make it totally worth it 😁

So, lots of reports of abuse and bias on Mastodon today stemming from the Middle East conflict. Perhaps this heightened level of hostility derives from the fact this platform skews left, but these issues divide the left. It's kind of new for us. Whatever the cause, hate speech, antisemitism, islamophobia, racism and personal attacks are never called for and will probably get you blocked or banned. Let's commit to zero tolerance for this garbage. We're better than this. Be kind to each other.

@mastodonmigration mastodon skews left? That might be true of some (many?) that despise today’s flavor of conservatism. But deep down they love them some Teddy Roosevelt. In the spirit of the intent of this toot, I’ve read through topics that were heavily debated with decency and respect on the merits at hand. However, these weren’t relating to “legal” murder of many people that are part of a culture and religion. Call it what you will, it doesn’t mean it’s not happening.
