The GOP is fracturing in the House (the first time in history that a Speaker has been removed.) MAGA Republicans almost shut down the government out of pure petulance. Trump is in court facing fraud allegations. The judge in another Trump case just issued a gag order on Trump. GOP presidential candidates are talking about invading Mexico. Lauren Boebert is still serving in Congress despite groping and being groped by her date in public. (Al Franken was forced to resign for much less.)

The senate finished voting around 9pm, which gives the president about 3 hours to receive, sign, and return the bill before funding for the federal government expires at midnight.

How does this actually work? I'm imagining there's some clerk on the Senate floor furiously re-installing drivers for a frozen-up printer, or perhaps searching for an unexpired cyan toner cartridge in time to get a printout ready to drive down to the White House before the deadline.

    What independent channels does the governor of New York have to communicate with residents? In Sweden it would be the public FM radio system.

    Or does getting an emergency announcement in New York depend on you having access to some kind of commercial media?

    My parents have always had at least a transistor radio that played AM channels. NPR, local public radio, college radio, all those channels are on the AM radio band.

    That's always been a reliable source for the emergency broadcast system, and it still is.

    If you have the internet, a car with a radio, or just a radio, you have access. Most emergency generators have radios, too.

    That afternoon, a supervisor killed Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk.

    Natalie Cline and her supporters are nothing more than bullies with power. That they would use that power against a very few children (while pretending that those children are anything more powerful than just individual human children) is monstrous.

    She is preaching eliminationist, genocidal ideology and too many people are treating her as credible and tolerating her rhetoric.

    Her job isn't to determine which kids deserve rights. All kids in Utah deserve full human rights.
