Hey tech/SM companies: when you send an email out summarizing changes to your ToS/Policies, don't just tell us what SORT of things were changed, summarize WHAT YOU CHANGED. FROM WHAT, TO WHAT.

Making me read the entire policy and also somehow have access to the previous policy is OBTUSE BULLSHIT.

Looking at you,

Fucking dorks.

I switched from Spotify to Tidal for all those reasons. Then I realized I was listening to public radio more than Tidal anyway, so I quit Tidal & send monthly support to MPR.

We’re kinda spoiled with really good public radio choices here in the Twin Cities.

Obstacles in homebrewing ladder line: I foolishly thought 14" zip ties would be long enough, doubled over, to use in a 6" fin tube insulator & have enough extra to loop around the antenna wire and engage the the teeth. Nope!

And it turns out 16" zip ties are too wide to fit through the insulator.

The simplest solution would be to purchase 4" insulators to use with the 14" zip ties. It would add $15 and another two weeks to the project with waiting for them to come in the post.

But...

    So I have to nominate our Breville Express Impress espresso machine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mms3yKAdQcg

    Prior to this, I was making our daily coffees using a pair of Bialetti Moka pots. The Breville is giving us better coffee, less work, less messy, & a truly enjoyable morning routine.

    Now - if someone made the same thing but with a grinder that was as quiet as our Bosch dishwasher, I'd be able to make coffee while she's still asleep. That would be nice.

    But it's not very interesting to photograph a big white box, so I also printed a tiny version of the big white box so I could photograph it in the big white box.

    And, yes: for obvious reasons, future versions will get increasingly smaller.

    After reading the comments herein, I'd say 100% are confused.

    It must be regional, which took me aback.

    Here in MN, a day that is within the current week, you just say the day. The rest of the context of the sentence should already make it clear whether you're talking about the past or the future (i.e. "On Sunday we went".

    But if it's a day next week, then "Next Friday" means not "THIS Friday".

    Y'all might be right where you are, but here, I'm right. Odd.

    Right?!

    From a printed calendar perspective, the week starts Sunday morning.

    From an emotional/mental perspective, it starts Monday morning, for people who work mostly Mon-Fri.

    It’s called the weekend, not the weekend-and-beginning.

    Well, now I have a ProtonMail Bridge running, & using my api_key from aprs.fi, I have a python script run by cron hourly all day. It checks for both my gateway & another associated one, & if it's been silent for more than an hour, STUPID 500CHAR

    After figuring out years ago that I can listen better, especially over long periods of time, if I have something to keep my hands busy, I try to always have a project on hand heading into multi-day meetings or conferences.

    Ran out of time to prep for this one, so I started winding my skein into a yarn ball during opening remarks, got my sizing swatch done for a one-skein triangle shawl (Moogly Fortune's Shawlette) by the end of One Track Mind, and made a nice bit more progress during the firetalks...

    It's the perfect con project - a simple diagonal-box-stitch repeat, no complex counting required. Just add a box every row until I run out of yarn, and then frog back until I have enough yarn left for the edging. 😁

    @crochet

    Yarn ball wound from that skein, sitting on my Ghibli Museum susuwatari crochet bag
    Six-box sizing swatch of the Moogly Fortune's Shawlette, next to my ruler - exactly four inches! This never happens.
    WIP triangle on a white sheet next to my ruler. I frogged the sizing swatch (because I hadn't expected to get it right on the first try and thus wasn't paying as close attention as I would have liked!) and still managed to end up with 8 inches of progress at the end of the evening...

    Paramedic in the family kiboshed my usual bicycling route to the auto repair shop (the one with the bicycle lane), and told me to take the lesser traveled road WITHOUT bicycle lanes (due to slower traffic speeds...the bike lane route is 50mph limit but people frequently at 60mph+). Probably good advice. Hope the upgrade to separated lanes on that road will mitigate that issue somewhat. (although, no spindly traffic barrier will stop a car going 65mph, but it will reduce probability of sideswiping)

    @ai6yr @gretared @superdilettante

    My guess is that the EMT's remark was merely based on the fact that in many places, ALL the spots right up front are handicapped spots.

    Aside from that, from my experience, the 49.9% of drivers who are below average just barely manage when they're on a divided highway with only one sensible direction to go. In parking lots, where nearly any direction is viable, they display very poor skills with alarming frequency.

    The other 50.1% mess up sometimes, too.

    They should just insist upon strong bollards everywhere, so we can shop and dine in relative safety.

    AND so we can have more YouTube compilations of drunk idiots trying to leap-frog over them and basically punching themselves in the nut-sack with THE EARTH... which is also fun.
