No need to clear new land for solar power. Panels can coexist with agriculture, and even help it since many crops thrive in partial shade and/or benefit from water retention under the panels.

A rare interview of Gen Zaluzhny, where he says the unsaid part out loud: restricting Ukraine's fight to its own territory, not allowing the precise weapons to be used at cross-border military targets, prolongs the war and kills children.

Their own militaries would never fight like this, he said in the interview.
“The assumption that this would be a war between a big Soviet army and a small Soviet army was wrong in many countries,” Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said. “That’s why they told us that Kyiv would fall in three days and Ukraine in three weeks. But this is no longer a Soviet army.”
“Victory will be when we will have an army — maybe even a not-insignificant one — that will guarantee the safety of children who are now riding in baby carriages, so that they grow up knowing that this won’t happen again,” Zaluzhny said. “And that’s a tremendous amount of work. It has to start now.”

Just noting about this Starlink thing - we talk about it as if it's news now. It is not. We knew about this last February. Elon himself even confirmed it then. Not one thing has changed about it since. He was pissy about not getting paid "enough" for it, scared that his investments in China were at risk if he soured putin, and decided to overrule US government policy. None of this is news today. What will be done about it?

This ought to make @jon happy: Finnish Railways VR will now plan and sell travel chains including connecting buses. Some years past I was working on this myself as a third party opetator, and the tech we built is powering the bus networks' side of the system even today. Yes, you can also buy train tickets from the bus networks. That came first.

  • and 4000 russian tanks and armoured vehicles
  • and another 4000 artillery systems
  • forced the russian navy to back out of Crimean bases
  • made air bases in Zaporizhia and Donestk Oblasts untenable for russian aviation
  • crossed the Dnipro in Kherson Oblast
  • caused a 15% interest rate in russia
  • made russia dependent on north korea for its ammunition

If this week's events aren't a clear demonstration how taking the fight to the other party's side is a necessary tactic for winning a war, then what is? Forcing Ukraine to fight on its own territory only and denying it the right to attack the invader where they base their long range attacks from only serves to prolong the war. We need to stop requiring Ukraine to fight with one hand tied behind their back.

Niissä talouksissa ja kiinteistössä, missä on onnistuttu toteuttamaan sähkön hintaan reagoiva lämmitysjärjestelmä kuten Fingrid on toivonut, kuluttajan ei tarvitse tehdä yhtään mitään - järjestelmä tulee vähentämään sähkön käyttöä klo 15 asti ja sen jälkeen kytkemään kaiken varaavan kapasiteetin täydelle teholle täysin automaattisesti.

Ja Fingrid, paikalliset verkkoyhtiöt sekä tuotantolaitokset tulevat olemaan helisemässä.

Why has not embraced ? It doesn't seem like at all a stretch to have the private/followers-only/everyone model map to strava.social fedi visibility.

For that matter, why aren't or jumping on the opportunity? Seems like easy way to promote both fitness and their own apps.

Wow, search is coming to Mastodon and privacy options are simplified!

IF your profile is discoverable (findable by name, not account id, and visible in Trending toots), AND your toot is public, the toot will be indexed by servers where text search is enabled (enabling text search is optional feature and carries a sizeable data processing a storage cost for the server). Whether your server enables search or not doesn't matter - other people's servers do the indexing.

There used to be a city here. People are now debating whether an invader does or does not hold all of the territory the city used to contain. It doesn't matter, for there is no city here any more. What matters is that the invader is evicted and made to bear responsibility for what they have done.

Is it incredible that it's 737 Max that is now in headlines for unsafe door panels, when it was the same model five years ago in headlines for unsafe autopilot?

No. There is nothing incredible about an aircraft model that is not an improved revision of its predecessor, but in fact a completely reworked aircraft, that was allowed to skip recertification for essentially fraudulent motivations, turning out to be unsafe to fly.

That's entirely credible. Expected, really.

It's been over a month since Rep McGovern started his discharge petition to bypass Mike Johnson in the US Congress and get the support package for Ukraine rolling again. In the meantime, the House has mostly just vacationed, while russia bombards Ukrainian cities and energy infrastructure. The petiton is up to 195 of the 218 names needed for majority.

It's not just Johnson. Most of the representatives don't care.

12 years ago, a man set of a car bomb and opened fire against teenagers on a summer camp on a Norwegian island of , killing 77 people. The man turned out to have written a racist manifesto naming the current Speaker of the Finnish Parliament as one of his inspirations regarding his "great replacement" delusions. The party members of the Speaker, including their current party leader and Minister of Finance, still refer to this theory in their political motivations.

Well that's interesting. Just weeks after the newest and largest nuclear reactor in all of Europe went fully online, it's now running at 2/3 power because we have so much hydro, there's no buffer left in the grid and power prices are negative for days on end. This is not a lasting condition of course. Come summer there'll be less rain, and come winter there'll be more need for power, but it is unique, for now.
