Celts: The History and Legacy of One of the Oldest Cultures in Europe by Martin J. Dougherty, 2024

Before the Vikings, before the Anglo-Saxons, before the Roman Empire, the Celts dominated central and western Europe. Today we might think of the Celts only inhabiting parts of the far west of Europe โ€“ Ireland, Great Britain, France and Spain โ€“ but these were the extremities in which their culture lasted longest.

It is the Gundestrup kettle, in the National Museum in Copenhagen.

Looking for people who blog in using .

I use Markdown a lot & it works well for me. Having recently moved to Wordpress, I find the Gutenberg-type editors very nice for fancy effects, but not for just writing.

Unsurprisingly, I'm facing 24 WP plugins that promise Markdown heaven, and I'd rather not try them all.

Anyone out there would like to share experiences in this matter, please do. @wordpress perhaps?

seindal,
@seindal@mastodon.social avatar

@RolfBly @wordpress You can write your text in markdown in whatever editor you like, and then paste it into the Wordpress block editor. It'll then convert it to html blocks.

I often write my drafts in Nextcloud Notes, and then I just copy paste the text into wordpress to prepare for publishing.

Why is it that some people get so agitated when you suggest that some other people can happily live without their own car?

I mean, sure, some places are extremely car-centric! But not all places where humans live are extremely car-centric, and some of the places that are extremely car-centric could be changed to offer more options to people who want to live without their own cars!

Why is this notion seen as a threat?

So I've been kicking around an idea for a while - taking big open source projects and slowly pulling things out of them as separate modules that can be more widely used. Like, take Blender, or Gimp, or Firefox, or any huge monolithic open source project. I'm sure there are lots of bits and pieces that would be really useful elsewhere. I was just wishing I had access to Blender's visual shader node system in Godot, for example. (1/4)

How to Spend $50 Billion to Make the World a Better Place by Bjรธrn Lomborg, 2006

This unique book provides a rich set of dialogs examining ten of the most serious challenges facing the world today: climate change, the spread of communicable diseases, conflicts and arms proliferation, access to education, financial instability, governance and corruption, malnutrition and hunger, migration, sanitation and access to clean water, and subsidies and trade barriers.
