The fact of my resignation is settling in and folks are starting to scramble and panic. Do I feel... schadenfreude? Not really. This job has sort of made me numb.
I've had 3 very high-profile engineers at the org ask me to stay, or ask for the opportunity to convince me.
One of whom is responsible for putting me into this position in the first place.
Because of where this job has put my head space, I know I shouldn't even consider staying. Plus, it's almost always wrong to take a counter-offer, right?
When biking my son to school, there's a road with a pedestrian crossing that we use. Every time, the first 2-3 vehicles won't stop within 10 seconds of us pressing the button.

One of my classes this semester is A+ Exam Prep for Computer Hardware Configuration and Support. I can only describe my feelings about this class as visceral. My mind instinctively recoils from doing so much of this. The most prevalent thought in my head the entire time I'm working on it is, "How can I get out of this?" Only 4 more weeks and I'm done with this one.
I got a Nokia 2780 Flip phone as our "home phone" for around the house and for my kid to bring with him in situations where we might be separated. It's very satisfying to use! Physical buttons, T9 texting, and it even has a rudimentary Google Maps app. 3 days of battery life, to boot. It runs KaiOS. Great call quality, signal strength, and that pleasant Nokia ringtone.

My problem is that Hamas is shit, but also Israeli policy is shit. And I want the US to stop financing the people actively conducting genocide against all Palestinians (not just Hamas). And I also don't want Hamas to prosper.
But the anti-Hamas sentiment also seems to be pro-genocide.
