The demonstration in this weekend was enormous. Organisers estimated 250,000 people marching for peace.

Favourite moment amongst the seriousness of the day - crowds taking over Whitehall (outside the Prime Minister's residence) to dance to 'Dammi Falastini' by Mohammed Assaf.

In more positive news, chatting to people here about inspired me to mend my rucksack strap.

Have had this rucksack since I was a teenager and I hope to always have it around ♥️ 💛 💚 💙 🌈

In this second photo the frayed section has been darned with a rainbow of embroidery threads in pale blue, green, yellow, pale pink, dark pink and brown. It looks much better.

Folk might be interested to know that across the month of May, Sustainable Fashion Week’s campaign invites people to mend one piece of clothing, celebrating repair as an act of empowerment.

I think I'll have a go at my pile. If anyone wants to share mending projects or pics, that'd be lovely.

The stats for why is great are pretty compelling:

Patched is a new series where people can write to me with a (or fashion-adjacent) question that's bothering them, and I will reply with a letter from an anti-capitalist perspective.

If you have a question please email me at - DearPatched@proton.me

Include the name you want your question published under and your town or country. I pledge to protect your identity.

“When Bangladesh’s Minimum Wage Board met in November 2023 to decide wages for garment workers, trade unions called for a monthly Living Wage of 23,000 taka (approx £172), given that the previous wage of 8,000 taka (£60) was a poverty wage that made fruit a luxury item. Protests erupted when the Board announced a new wage of just 12,500 taka (£90). The state cracked down on the protests—killing four workers and arresting thousands more including trade union organisers.”

On the 11th anniversary of the factory collapse, we took to Oxford Street to demand for the 44,000 Bangladeshi garment workers currently facing arrest after protesting for a fair minimum wage.

A few photos from the Free Palestine demonstration in London on Saturday 30th March 2024.

The organisers estimate that 200,000 people marched through London calling for a ceasefire and and end to Israel's atrocities.

Are you a MAN who is scared of YARN?

Do YOU want to create MANLY KNITS with colour palettes ESPECIALLY FOR THE MENS?

Whoo- boy do I have a website for you!

Unfortunately this is real, not satire 🤣 🤦‍♀️

"Our yarn is created especially for men who knit for themselves and for everyone who knits for men. Our color pallet is designed to appeal to masculine tastes with respect to both traditional knitting projects and more modern designs."

@Faintdreams all this effort and then it just looks like all the other yarn out there but with a painful logo 😆

I really thought it was going to be khakis and greys or something but there's yellows, pinks, multi-colours...

I am very pleased with the update from @signalapp which means that you can now generate a username and not have to publish or give out your phone number.

This is a big step forward for allowing journalists to make un/less traceable first contact with sources without compromising either party.

In the (basic) infosec for journalists class that I teach, this has always been a sticking point and now there is a (not perfect but really great) solution. 👍
