Hi , I need some .

I proudly built https://tommi.space using , then switching to , coding every single string of the front end myself.

Now, I am realizing it is becoming quite cumbersome to maintain and to adapt to the changeable nature of my craziness. Code is messy and probably a bit bloated, I am not so expert or have enough time to work on improving the performance…

maybe it is time to start using a framework or something, but I have no idea about this stuff. My only imperatives are not to have any front end and have as little abstraction as possible. I would just like to make my life easier and keep the development of my personal website a fun thing to do rather than a stressful chore.

Any thoughts? Suggestions? Please feel free to digress, I am eager to learn about the topic.

Cc @jaredwhite and @zachleat, whose words of wisdom I particularly admire.

Today it’s the third day since I moved to .

I spent the first two days getting things sorted, cleaning and setting up the house, and getting acquainted with this incredible city.

Now that the basic things are out of the way, I am starting my tour of Berlin’s hackerspaces.

I want to get to know the city by connecting to its , , , spaces. I believe hackerspaces are the best way to do so. There are too many, it is wonderful and overwhelming at the same time. I love it.

My first stop has been , the hackerspace closest to where I live, in Friedrichshain.

It seems like exploring a dreamland. Not exaggerating: this embodies my greatest ideals and dreams.

I feel I will be spending a lot of time here.

Yesterday I went to @cbase, the first on planet Earth for the first time in my life.

It is hilarious that it is labeled as a toilet on 🤣

It might be an bug, but I don’t want to find out, it is very fun to keep it this way.

@sirodoht I do not want to be too provocative, but: why creating a new blogging software from scratch if https://bearblog.dev exists and it is very similar to what you did?

Sorry if I am being blunt, but you know I am very into contributing rather than creating from scratch… on this topic, here is a very nice article by the developer of .

This afternoon I have been thinking as far ahead as I probably never did in my life.

I am forced to do so because applications for the 2024 Erasmus Mundus Programme are opening soon, and I need to decide whether and where to apply.

Do I want to keep studying?

What will I be interested in in one year?

I have very little idea of who I am right now, I definitely cannot envision the best choice to make in one year…

Damn, it is so hard.

This morning, I was invited to the students’ assembly of my former high school I was crazy enough to do my Fediverse workshop with 700 people from 14 to 19.

It was chaotic to say the least, but it was so fun.

Live reaction thread of my first listen of , the new album, out today.

A due premise is key: it is no news that Green Day are becoming growingly watered down as the years pass. I am sad about this, but not disappointed. In the end, Billie Joe is an asshole and it is very hard to be happy for the band being successful.

Still, Green Day always had a special spot in my heart, being my first true love in terms of music. I remember vividly asking guitar teacher, back in 2013: “what is some true cool rock music I could listen to and then play, too?” “I think you would really like Green Day”, he said.

That was it. I downloaded aaaaaallllll the discography up to then, and I learned every single song by heart.

This is why I have so conflicting feelings about this band, now.

This afternoon I had to send some promo material to @fsfe supporters, and to do so I had to find a post box 📮 nearby.

I looked for “Mailbox” in @organicmaps and I got it, just a few meters from the office.

Is there any other database that locates even mail boxes? Only @openstreetmap 🚀

Hey tinkerers!

I have a git submodule that I am adding inside the repository of my website, but I want it to be ignored, except for its README.md.

I have tried two different approaches. In both cases I am able to exclude the git submodule, but I can’t find a way to include the README and use it as a regular template.

Option 1: using .eleventyignore

inputdir/submodule<br></br>!inputdir/submodule/README.md<br></br>

Option 2: using .eleventy.js

module.exports = function (eleventyConfig) {<br></br>  eleventyConfig.ignores.add('inputdir/submodule');<br></br>  eleventyConfig.ignores.add('inputdir/submodule/README.md'); // added it first to be sure<br></br>  eleventyConfig.ignores.delete('inputdir/submodule/README.md');<br></br>};<br></br>

Do you have any suggestions to fix this? The ignore section in Eleventy’s documentation is not helping much…

Thanks a lot!
