Canada's merger court asked the competition bureau to pay about C$13 million ($9.58 million) to Rogers Communications and Shaw Communications for the lengthy court battle after its failed attempt to block the telecom firms' C$20-billion merger.
Brianna Wise-Riley was working an administrative job with the Fulton County Superior Court when her manager gave her a great idea. Noting the food trucks parked near their office, her boss said: What if a nail salon could bring a manicure to you?...
As a disabled person, I face ableism and ableist language every day. Some people use ableist language without even knowing that it is ableist. I thought it would be good for folks to take a look at the attached BBC article and expand their perspectives a bit.
I personally would not, partially for the aforementioned concerns about .zip and also because Lemmy IIRC has no migration path from one instance domain to another. This is partially due to ActivityPub and partially due to it not being addressed in Lemmy core.
This is part of the reason why after FMHY.ml got disrupted, those communities could not come back online on that server.
For the time being, whenever you choose a fediverse domain, you are stuck with it, especially if you run Lemmy.
I'm not that confident in sites that choose .zip at this point in time.
And some experts think that Covid reinfection will decrease with successive generations who are exposed in young childhood until SARS-CoV-2 becomes just another nothingburger childhood viral illness like the other four or so endemic human coronaviruses.
That seems to be a rather dangerous gamble considering the severe side effects and risks of successive reinfections.
Claiming that a video game is bad because a wrong engine was used is like claiming that a movie is crap because a wrong brand of camera was used for shooting scenes. Especially when it comes from social media fingers who haven't wrote a single line of code in their entire life.
@darth I might be biased in the opposite direction wrt "move to Unreal, in-house bad" because for all of its very broad capabilities, Unreal shares very visible idiosyncrasies that can negatively affect a game if a team isn't skilled enough (or have enough resources) to manage and conquer them, especially with performance and modern graphics pipelines.
Very few big games handle modern shader compilation and asset streaming well, but when it's done poorly in Unreal... orz
Really? You're integrated in the OS. The OS with root level access to the device with built in GPS where you've already hassled me into most (all?) of the location sharing permissions and you can't tell me at the most base level where TF I am?
#TodayILearned that the delicious Mexican fruit sauce #Chamoy probably derives its name and recipe from the #Philippinesโ โkiamoyโ, which is a fruit sauce made with the same recipe. That recipe was in turn derived from a #Hokkien#Chinese recipe brought by Chinese immigrants, who called it ้นนๆข โkiam-muiโ (literally: salted plums).
As a Hokkien descendant who loves #Mexican#fruit salads, this makes me happy.
If I understand them correctly, James is suggesting this is to protect ads because the Promoted Tweets (are they even called that anymore?) ad category are run as fancy versions of regular tweets by regular Twitter accounts - meaning you can block them like any other Twitter account.
It was a very useful tool, one that no doubt hurts the reach of Twitter's dwindling ad revenue.
I suppose that's where the other part of it comes in, in which he (and many other conservatives for which "free speech" = "you HAVE to listen to me") is ass mad that the majority of users do not want to see him on their timeline.
@AAKL Well, if it's any solace the sheer quality and passion put into the story, expression, and implementation of 5e while avoiding so many of the industries' ills, will probably override those chuds.
@isthereanydeal Damn, the whole live-service tactics plus other controversies listed here makes me wish I could just skip the live- part. Oh well, Cassette Beasts it is
