r/Firefox is doing it right - The mods announced they were reopening the , but made it so new posts could only be pictures of foxes or red pandas…then said if people wanted to post about technical stuff, to do it on their kbin.

THAT is how you do it. The subreddit is so there, but functionally unusable, and there’s direction to the new place.

I’ve been using a lot over the last few days, and it’s starting to be a really good replacement! I’m looking forward to when there are apps available for it, since I prefer standalone apps over using a webpage.

It’s also got me finally using The Fediverse instead of just using - kbin has a nice option of creating a fediverse link, so I’ve boosted posts from and kbin here like they were native Mastodon posts. I feel like I’m finally getting the hang of it.

Southerner Tips for Avoiding Heatstroke!

I know some of y’all out here aren’t used to a lot of heat and humidity, so here are some important tips for how to avoid heatstroke and deal with the heat when you’re outside!

Most important is DRINK CONSTANTLY. The thing they drill into us as kids down South is that if you’re thirsty, it’s too late. You need to be drinking before you feel thirsty.
