bumble,
stu,
webology, ✨ One #Vivaldi gripe is that I can never remember how to rearrange the icons in my extension panel. They rarely change order, but every once in a while, I need to re-install an extension, and all ordering hell breaks loose.
Turns out, you have to hold down the ⌘ key, then click and drag on the extension icon before letting go of the ⌘ key and then your mouse button.
webology, @oliverandrich 🤣 🥽
pythonbynight, @webology TIL! This had been bugging me for a while... lol.
cliffwade, Started the day with a nice meeting with the Ambassador leader and Sopranos leader for @Vivaldi as well as with @beardedtechguy this morning.
Was nice to get to meet these two ladies who do so much for the community in various ways.
I'm honored to be a part of the Vivaldi community and with so many awesome others as well.
Thank you @marialeal for having us as a part of all of this!
beardedtechguy, @cliffwade @Vivaldi @marialeal It was a great meeting indeed. Thanks Maria for having us, and looking forward to contributing to the growth and future of Vivaldi!
beardedtechguy,
cliffwade, @beardedtechguy That looks nice. Is that an extension or just some customizations you have made in various ways?
beardedtechguy, @cliffwade @Vivaldi Right now it is an extension I’ve customized.
cliffwade, I forgot to post about this yesterday, though not surprising due to how extremely busy work has been with the Play Store release of Nova 8.
I applied for the Vivaldi Sopranos program and it looks like I've been accepted. I'll have some accounts setup on Monday for me so I'll be able to dive in head first and see what all is going on.
That means I'm now an Ambassador and a Soprano for @Vivaldi which is pretty exciting!
beardedtechguy, @cliffwade @Vivaldi Thanks. Just waiting to hear back from @marialeal. 😁
andyn,
Vivaldi, 🎉 Exciting news for our Android folks!
On the latest update on Vivaldi 6.7, we've amped up Translate, improved the Tracker and Ad blocker functionality, tweaked the Bookmarks manager, and many other features based on YOUR feedback.
🔖 We understand that Bookmarks are one of the most important aspects of your browsing. Now, Vivaldi remembers the last folder you opened in the Bookmarks Panel. We've also tidied up your bookmarks by sorting folders first, making navigation a breeze.
⚙️ We work with Lingvanex continuously to make the built-in Vivaldi Translate more efficient. With an improved performance and the quality of translations, we hope you'll find speedy results.
In addition to the above, we’ve polished the user interface and made improvements to features across the board.
Find out what they are and enjoy browsing with more of these powerful browser features👇🏻

DanMan, @Vivaldi I'd love to use it on my Librem 5, but you don't release your mobile ARM version for Linux, only Android. 😞
balterwenjamin42,
Vivaldi, @balterwenjamin42 Did you try with the search URL listed on https://help.kagi.com/kagi/getting-started/setting-default.html#chromium_browsers?
jon,
jon, I guess it is a question of learning a few of the tricks. Some suggestions:
Only show direct mails in the unread folder. Hide custom folders and mailing lists.
Move important mailing lists into the important folder. Close the other folder and only click the parent folder to see what is inside.
Learn to use the view toggles. Use different settings for different folders, depending on what makes sense. I often hide unread mails to only show new ones, for example.
Use keyboard shortcuts, such as T to view a thread and E to view the contact.
Undo is your friend. If you mark a mail as read, use Undo to bring it back.
Personally I queue mails for later sending. I guess it is old school undo sending mail...
Prefetch all mails. That means all the mail gets indexed.
Search is a function you should expect to use a lot. It is fast. Thus you can spend less time organizing your mail.
lazza, @jon I tried setting up Vivaldi Calendar yesterday. It seemed to recognize all of my CalDav events fine. The problem is that it does not seem to sync events back.
So now I created a few events that do not reflect in my web calendar nor on my phone. 😢
I am using Infomaniak Calendar for the account.
jon, (edited )
atomicpoet, @jon I first used Opera on Slackware 9. It was an amazing experience.
viljay, @jon Opera for Nintendo DS was very special!
offby1, My weird #Vivaldi gripe as I try it out: the tab close buttons are on the "wrong" side of the tabs, and are very sensitive. I've closed a lot of tabs by accident trying to switch to them.
offby1, @webology not that I have noticed
webology, @offby1 Interesting. Where my average thread size is 80MB with Chrome it's 20MB with Vivaldi.
I don't see any processes >=300MB on Vivaldi, but I have several in the 600MB and 1GB range.
That's with a week's worth of open tabs vs. opening an old session from a few months ago in Chrome.
So maybe an unfair comparison, but my 2019 doesn't care if I have one window open for five with Vivaldi. With Chrome, my machine was barely usable after a few windows and my normal browsing habits.
aral, (edited ) @Vivaldi Bug report:
- OS: Fedora Linux 40.20240424.0 (Silverblue) x86_64
- DE: GNOME 46.1 (Wayland)
After signing in after sleep, Vivaldi renders at @1x even though my screen is set to @2x.
(Moving the window around or resizing it, etc., re-renders it at the correct resolution.)

aral, @ruario I believe so. Will check and update you next I’m at my desk :)

aral,
jon, New @Vivaldi release. Plenty of good stuff in here. The Feed Reader got special attention this time.
When you go to a page that provides a feed, you can click the feed reader icon in the address bar to follow it.
You can follow news sites and blogs, but did you know that you can follow Youtube channels as well?
With this update, you can now follow subreddits and users on Reddit, as well as repository releases and commits on GitHub.
Enjoy!

miyu, @Vivaldi I appreciate your efforts in attempting to reproduce this issue. Regarding the problem I reported, it occurs only in the web page area. If you need information about my device or OS version, please let me know.
Vivaldi, @miyu
We released a new version of Vivaldi on Android yesterday. If you haven't already, please update the app and keep an eye out for the issue. Personally, I haven't seen any blank pages recently, so hopefully the bug is gone.
stu, I have been using @Vivaldi for a few hours since I installed it earlier this morning.
I am beginning to really like the #tabstacks and also the side bar on desktop. Easy access to all important features.
Keep up the great work @Vivaldi and devs
jon, This month it is 30 years since I started working on browsers. April 1994 is when Geir and I started working on the Opera browser. We founded the company a year later.
Initially I made the UI, while Geir did a lot of the core.
Since that time I have dedicated myself to making the Web live up to its potential. First at Opera and now at Vivaldi.
If you ever used Opera and you have not tried Vivaldi, I invite you to give us a try!
If you never used Opera or Vivaldi, you are invited as well!

MichaelBishop,
jon, Have a look at :
We are in a different league when it comes to functionality and customization, but do not take my word for it. Give it a try.
stu, I am using @Vivaldi right now and are we able to use extensions ?
cliffwade,
stu, @cliffwade oh okay I was looking for a setting or something within vivaldi lol
cliffwade, I am excited and honored to announce that I am now an official Ambassador for the @Vivaldi web browser!
This is a browser I've been using for about 8 months now and absolutely love everything about the browser itself as well as the team that makes it and the community they have built.
I couldn't be happier to endorse a browser that works as great and as quick as Vivaldi!
stu, @cliffwade Just curious on how you become Ambassador for Vivaldi?
cliffwade, @stu You would need to send an email to ambassadors @ vivaldi . com and they will reply letting you know what you need to do.
I also suggest you follow @marialeal who is in charge of the Ambassadors program.
jon, I know a lot of you use @Vivaldi and would like to help us grow. Here are a few things you can do to help us grow. Thank you for your support!
Recommend @Vivaldi to your friends. Help them install and setup. Show them the features you think they would most like.
Follow @Vivaldi here and on other social networks you frequent.
Boost articles by @Vivaldi which have a broader appeal here and on other social networks.
Invite your friends to join Vivaldi Social.
Have a great day!
jon, Your choice of browser is a personal one. For me it is the feature set that matters, but also values. Maybe you want to read these?

jon, So I fixed a typo, but it reset the survey.
NeadReport, Shout out to Vivaldi browser for showing the link address (bottom left of browser window) when hovering over a text link on a web page. I've been wanting this for awhile now, and just realized it showed up recently.
THANK YOU!
#Vivaldi
NeadReport, @ramon Weird. 'Hover over' is showing on all three Status Bar options, even 'hide status bar'
ramon, @NeadReport I can't confirm that.
When Status Bar = Hide Status Bar in Settings > Appearance > Window Appearance, nothing is displayed on link hovering.
