Karstan, I'm pretty mad at you today, Portland. 😡 This city has wholly undeserved reputation for progressive politics. Exhibit A: voting for a fucking Republican for DA. Fuck every one of you reactionary assholes.
I'm so tired of this city. If I wanted to live with a bunch of reactionary assholes, I could live in any other city in this country.
ttpphd, Happy rainbow!
maeve, #pdx: #Portland bridges will see traffic delays due to film crews involved in movie production. https://www.reuters.com/world/us/blinken-says-hell-work-with-us-congress-respond-icc-move-gaza-2024-05-21/
maeve, @ahimsa_pdx Apologies. I have corrected the link. Still sleepy this morning
ahimsa_pdx, @maeve No worries! I figured it was a cut/paste error 😁
freeformz, Last day with this guy.
Cormac - our short term foster goes back tomorrow.
You can adopt him from Oregon Dog Rescue.
Happy to answer any questions.
kwf, @freeformz question: is he a good boy?
willowashmaple, This is another reminder that Ted Wheeler and Rene Gonzalez are assholes beholden to GOP-aligned donors
City Council again attempts to criminalize public sleeping, likely to face legal challenge

ubo, @willowashmaple Why fight homelessness when you can fight the homeless? 🤮
“Assholes” is not appropriate for such disgusting people!

fraying, Too hot, too soon. #pdx
fraying, The tomatoes I planted out on Wednesday look very unhappy.
Course that’s not stopping me from planting out the peppers.
Karstan,
greendesignek, Love some actual good news! #pdx #cider #portlandcidercompany

ChrisKOTM, Quick story about a #PDX neighbor. Was walking my dog this morning and passed by a man slumped on top of a bicycle on the ground sleeping. Checked to make sure he was alive; he looked dehydrated. Went back to give him food and water, check on him again. Then PPB rolled up us cuz some other neighbor called the cops on him. He was getting up, said he was ok, didn’t need medical. Cop took off thankfully, seeing he had food and water from me and was alert and able to carry on.
ChrisKOTM, Here’s an idea for everyone to chew on. MAYBE TRY TALKING TO PEOPLE AND HELPING THEM BEFORE YOU CALL THE COPS ON THEM. The guy was trying to sleep, was likely super dehydrated and malnourished. It’s trash day in our hood, and that always brings people around looking thru recycling for cans. Dude was out canning and his body needed rest. #mutualaid #MutualDefense
etherdiver, @ChrisKOTM don't call the cops on anyone unless they're shooting at or assaulting someone
Stoneycase,
Stoneycase, @SourceRolls @thesizzler @mrcompletely Went with “Top Burmese” for tonight. Walking distance to the kiddo’s apartment. Delicious! Nice comfortable setting. Padded seats. Good music. https://topburmese.com/ located at 413 NW 21st Ave, Portland, OR 97209 #portland #Food #travel #yummy
mrcompletely, @Stoneycase @SourceRolls @thesizzler cool, there are a few burmese spots now and the food is amazing
edit: since you're in northeast, make it out to Wajan on Burnside sometime. Indonesian food, absolutely great
caravan, This would have been quite the bill if the show ever happened. Hard to believe it was actually booked. Then again, GG probably would have fit in with some of the Oaks crew. #ggallin #scumfucs #pdx #oakspark #punkrock https://www.ebay.com/itm/115920611311?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=yC3-BlA7RRa&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=HGaoN8GqSZy&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
agnes, Got myself a one-person feast at Desi Bites in #Beaverton! 😆🎉 They’re not “Abhiruchi level” (i.e. the best #Indian food in all of #PDX, except located in Vancouver WA) but I loved getting a bit of everything with their vegetarian thali which comes with a single bite of dessert - the perfect portion! The egg curry was a bit too sweet for me, but I’m coming back for #vegan sambar on Tuesdays!
(I went to see Monkey Man afterwards, which sadly contained 0% Indian food… but 500% Dev Patel! 🇮🇳🔥)
seanbala, @agnes Looks so good! Will add these to our list for when we visit the city again. When we visited #PDX last summer, we went to Bhuna and Bollywood Theater. Have you been to either?
We were struck by the idea of a Kashmiri restaurant in the US (Bhuna). So unusual for Indian in the US.
Bollywood Theater probably had the best service we've EVER had at a restaurant in the US. We both thought the food there was pretty top notch (and many dishes comparable to what we might get in India).

craftyguy, So... there's a free software conference (#FOSSY [1]) in #pdx (Portland, OR) this year, and I was thinking of applying to have a table there where folks could bring (supported) devices they want to flash with #postmarketOS, or just to hang out and chat about pmOS or #linuxmobile.
Does this sound like a good idea?
linmob, @craftyguy While I won't attend (too far away, sorry) .. YES GOOD IDEA! Stuff like that can be quite the blast :-) https://linmob.net/lit-2023-stand-experiences/
craftyguy, @linmob wow nice article, thanks for sharing it. You mention a few things that will definitely be helpful for me to consider here!

mediageek, We only got a glimpse of a partial eclipse here in Portland, OR. But the clouds thinned out just enough, for only a few minutes, letting me grab a very lucky shot of it.

BigAngBlack, I did not know #PortlandStreetResponse could be eligible for #Medicaid funding
> In February 2021, the city’s first alternative, non-police emergency response team, Portland Street Response (PSR), was launched after two years of planning and advocacy. By February 2023, its future was in jeopardy. As uncertainty around funding and future leadership hangs over PSR, the public has a plea for city hall: Fund, expand, and stabilize the program....
