Trying to work on my couch for the day. See how it goes.
I usually have two 4K monitors attached to the MacBook and have the MacBook open to use the additional space. But I usually have to manage a dev team. On Friday it’s usually much quieter and I can focus on my dev stuff.
If I work on private projects I do it often from the couch so I know it's doable in theory.
I always have the option to switch to my desk so I guess it's fine.
But the goal is to find a good workflow to only work on one screen from time to time to be more flexible with where I work. For example: I never worked in a café and would like to try this one day.
@kaiserkiwi Yeah, that's a huge downsize!
Do you have a gadget to keep the laptop off your lap? I never owned a mac so I don't know if "the device is hitting up and burning my knee-caps" would be an issue for you, but it was for me when I had to code from the sofa.
@evanesca Since Apple switched to Apple Silicon this isn't an issue. I have a M1 Pro, which is not as efficient as current processors, but it get's barely warm.
When I had an Intel MacBook it was terrible ^^" But it was also so loud I couldn't concentrate. For the M1 I never ever heard the fans once since I have it ^^
@guffo@jake4480 I’m 50 this year and have only just realised I’m probably ND. I just know that I’ve always found life difficult, but was also kind of a high achiever.. It was after joining Mastodon and reading everyone’s experiences that the penny dropped!
@catnip@guffo oh wow that's so cool! Yeah she's on TikTok and started seeing things, I mean, a psychologist/psychiatrist is one thing but then you really need someone who will focus on that. She's in her 30s, me, my 40s. But she found someone and they did the test, so she's official. Me, I just have this hardcore depression as far as I know. ha. But more good days than bad now.
Not sure whether to be impressed or concerned about fiber optic internet line installers keeping at their job even during a heavy downpour! https://flic.kr/p/2pRKg6C
I could honestly use a blind on the lateral sides of my eyes for when I'm at #work. My peripheral vision is too sharp from #motorcycle and #bicycle riding just like how my hearing is the same for the same reason. (I already wear earplugs a lot of the time when working.) :blobfoxgooglycry:
I am struggling to work today. My brain is all over the place. Still marking papers. I think it's because I'm cold, but I want fresh air - WHAT DO? #friday#work
This authorizes the eboard to call a stand up strike similar to UAW's autoworkers strike last year. Our initial demands include amnesty for all students and workers who are facing any disciplinary action for protest, divestment from "weapons manufacturers, military contractors, and companies profiting from Israel's war on Gaza," disclosure of all investments, and the ability for researchers to opt out from funding from sources tied to the military or oppression of Palestinians (including a transitional fund for those people).
This strike is in response to our employer first allowing a vigilante mob to brutalize our students and workers, and then calling the police to further brutalize them the following night. Our union is responding to a pattern of employer violence that's as old as unions themselves, allying with police-aligned vigilantes to chill and crush organizing.
Apple workers are striking at a store in Maryland by Millie Giles 5/13/24
"...In the aftermath of its outrage-inducing object-crushing advert, Apple has been dealt another PR blow, as it faces its first retail employee strike in history.
...While Apple is currently in the firing line for its employee practices, with labor unions like the Communications Workers of America accusing the tech giant of union-busting, collective strike action has been gaining traction across the US more widely..."
