Los Robles Hospital (Thousand Oaks) apparently was on and off on diversion all last week, per a family member working at another hospital. I asked why, and they said "their ER has been slammed". Diversion is where they cannot take ambulances and are sending them to other hospitals nearby. #VenturaCounty#ConejoValley#healthcare#EMS
Every two years I need to renew my EMT-B (Emergency Medical Technician Basic) license 🚑.
📚Taking refresher courses and continuing education classes is an integral part of my professional development, ensuring that I possess the most current knowledge and skills necessary to deliver exceptional patient care.
One of my most consistent not-really-a-jokes about #EMS is that our real motto isn't something about saving lives, it's "We’ll figure it out" because we have to, by definition, operate under less than ideal circumstances.
Another medic who worked for my previous #EMS service said she went to get the batteries for her laryngoscope and she was told "just use your phone flashlight" to intubate a patient.
