@itsfoss What's wrong with #Ubuntu from #Canonical? Is it because of Snap in Ubuntu? I feel like Snap isn't really that bad, don't hate too much because of Snap in Ubuntu. Because there are still many superior aspects of Ubuntu and its variants. Ubuntu and other variants remain the best Linux for me 👍🏼 #Kubuntu#Lubuntu#UbuntuMATE#Xubuntu#UbuntuBudgie#UbuntuCinnamon
As a #Debian guy I have to say that #Xubuntu really is a neat distro. Very easy to get running, many things included and of course being #Xfce very solid.
Wondering if I should switch from Mozilla's VPN to Proton's VPN.
Mozilla works flawlessly on Android and Linux desktop, but was a bit of a pain to configure on the CLI.
Anyone have strong feelings about #Proton and their #VPN?
(Not interested in any other providers, thanks. Yes, I understand the limits of what a VPN can do. No, I don't need to to work on Mac, Windows, or iOS. Yes, your joke reply is very funny. No, I don't want to run my own.)
@Edent One word of warning: I run #Xubuntu and when running ProtonVPN from the command line it worked fine but sometimes would not kill the process properly after reboot which messed with network-manager & screwed up my internet connection. I fixed it but something to be aware of.

Regarding your LUKS password issue. Could it be that you are using a LVM block (?) on the machine where you have to type in the password once?
And on the other host you have to decrypt ever single partition?
I think i have the latter case on my guix setup, which u did manually. The former on my NixOS hosts per installer.
The true power of #linux:
I've got an old computer as a little #minecraft server. #ubuntu is running off of an old HDD, so It's quite slow. I decided to replace #gnome with #xfce, and now It's very snappy.
Also it was one command and then a reboot.
Now It's #xubuntu!
It's still not great when I'm running apps, but at least I can use the Terminal and files without lagging. 😄️
This weekend I re-installed my business notebook with #NixOS.
I guess I'll write a blog article about my NixOS adventure some day.
Sneak preview: not everything is great when you migrate from decades of deb-based distros to NixOS. Things that work OOTB with normal distros can consume hours to debug for me. 😔
Let's see about the long-term aspects.
At least this concludes my #Xubuntu era for good. Only one Debian stable left (that'll be a hard nut to crack) besides my two new NixOS hosts.

I installed #Mandrake#Linux, probably around 20 years ago. I also tried Corel Linux at one stage.
Mandrake morphed into #Mandriva.
Then maybe ten years ago I moved onto #Ubuntu, and I've been on #XUbuntu ever since.
