Our first dahlia blossoms for this year.
Lots more to come.

The first of the dahlias are coming up. This year I remembered to pinch out the plants to make them bushier so I get more flowers and they aren’t so tall. I will still need to stake them though.

Today did not allow for very much downtime, but if I say Summer, let's go see the flowers. She runs out the door and takes me directly to the dahlias. We watch every day for the last one to sprout.
This afternoon, I got tired of waiting, so Summer helped me dig up the tuber, which turned out to be no good. We managed to sprout nine of the ten we planted, though.
Being a dahlia addict was new to me last year, and I am even worse this year. I have no shame.
Thank goodness my daughter bought me an extra hard to get, dahlia that should be here soon.
Now I have the perfect spot.
It was meant to be.

They’re such beautiful flowers. We love them as well. We had this two years ago. Sadly, it didn’t make it last year. We‘re giving it another try this year.

Dahlias are one of my favourite flowers. They are such unique flowers. Something about these pretty dahlias makes me feel so nostalgic. I would like to share with you an image of a dahlia in sepia. The image devoid of colour still emanates warmth but is calm and soothing.
