You won’t run out of film if you buy them in 50 and 100ft rolls

Here’s how I bulk load film https://popagandhi.com/photos/bulk-loading-film/

Late last year, I ran a small project with a nonprofit in San Francisco. We gave out instant film cameras (color and black and white) to 5 people who were either unhoused or who lived nearby in one of the 'SROs'. We did a tiny, tiny exhibition.

I'm still working to figure out how to make this a more regular thing, and how to show their work, because they have such amazing stories to tell.

Lotta's was an antique and pie shop on Polk St. They closed late last year, but not before I got a pic of their giant inflatable flamingos

I love taking photos of busy Chinatown shops. The things arranged haphazardly, the prices, the writing.. it all makes me feel very at home!

Roll eps16 (cont.): Parsons College, Fairfield, Iowa (June 1966)

In two years of living at Parsons, this was the first time I had ever seen a man and a woman together on campus. He is of course a senior, and the girl is just visiting for graduation.

This wasn't because there were no women students, you understand. But unless you were an upperclassman and had a car, there was no way you'd ever get to interact with them.

This photo remains one of my fave photos that I shot, developed, scanned, and printed (both digitally as well as in the darkroom)

I learned to develop film out of necessity.

Dev and scan for 7 rolls of film is US$150 where I live.

With my Bellini chemicals, and scanning setup at Photolaundry where I get a Fuji frontier scanner by the hour, it costs $4-5 per roll (excluding my time, but I actually do this to destress)
