Packing for hospital next week.

I have shoulder surgery on Wednesday and it will be an overnight stay (hopefully only one night!), probably in a shared room.

Tips and tricks for preparation and packing would be super helpful, please!

Fully aware that this sounds like a conspiracy theory, but the (specifically ) movement is so fascinating to witness through an evolutionary lens. We are quite literally experiencing how society comes to terms with an accelerating genetic mutation. Growing evidence points towards and as differing presentations of the same underlying mutation. Highly co-morbid conditions like , , and could be from ongoing social trauma? Wild.

I have the worst about .
I wonder if this happened to others before me. I keep thinking I test positive on lateral flow tests when seeing an extremely faint line, only when looking from certain angles from up close with a flash. Looking online ofc it says a faint line means positive.
But I just noticed that when doing the same to an empty test, before I put any sample in at all - I can still see those lines around both the C and T.
Can't even be seen on photos
So lost rn. Doctors??

Reminder: Neurodiversity is much broader than Autism, Dyslexia or ADHD.

Many conditions are often left out in the conversations, and ultimately in research and further in the allocation of resources. Let's strive towards equity.

🧵 1/3

I figured to write a little thread, sharing what helps me to decrease anxiety, depression and OCD…

• Take time for daily outdoor walks or other exercise. This helps your brain to process and solve things, and increase white matter.

• Eat healthy. No hard-to-digest food, heavily processed food, sugary stuff, etcetera. Your gut is intricately connected to your brain via the nervous system and gut bacteria. "You are what you eat."

[…]

metin, (edited )
@metin@graphics.social avatar

🧵 2/3

• Get good sleep. Go to bed and get up at regular times, and wind down before going to bed. Dim your screens to the minimum in the evening, and put them away later in the evening.

• Hydrate! And go easy on the stimulants. Consume little to no coffee, energy drinks, alcohol, etcetera.

• Avoid stress as much as possible. Don't work too much, take breaks, learn to say "no" to the pressure of employers, clients, friends and family.

[…]

metin,
@metin@graphics.social avatar

🧵 3/3

• Memento mori. Try not to take daily concerns too seriously. Life expires before you know it, and you don't want to look back upon all the time you wasted worrying about trivialities.

• Give and receive "TLC". Be good to your loved ones, and you'll receive the same.

• Last but not least: spend as much time as possible on activities that make you happy and calm you down, such as creating (drawing, making music, singing, …).

Because so many web forms are built with bugs and oddities, my trust in their integrity is low. My process looks like this:

  1. Enter information
  2. Select/copy long-form text
  3. Submit form

If there’s more than one long-form input I’ll copy/paste from both into a text document before submitting.

Anyone else have this relationship with forms? It may just be my OCD.

rakqoi, to art

I've never posted an so here it is, finally!

We're Rak, a plural system consisting of Anna, Kat, and Farah (among others). All of our pronouns are she/her and it's fine to refer to our whole system as such.

We're panromantic, grey-asexual, and polyamorous! Very leftist, not religious. We also have ADHD, OCD, and Bipolar II, so hopefully we can find others to relate and share experiences with.

:neocat_flag_pan: :neocat_flag_ace: :neocat_flag_polyam: :neocat_flag_plural: :neocat_flag_disabled:

We'll each write our own little mini-intros for anyone interested!

💙 I'm Anna ^^ more often than not I'm in front, though very often alongside Kat. I'm a very nerdy blue catgirl. I'm pretty reserved, thoughtful, and deliberate, though also often anxious. I'm the linux nerd in our system ^^ I'm a sucker for optimization and efficiency in all things, and I love tinkering and customizing everything. I really enjoy factory building games and sandbox games.

Kat and I have a lot of overlap with our interests; together we're pretty creative and enjoy art, 3D modeling, music making, and gamedev. We both enjoy playing FFXIV (especially savage raiding and clubbing!), Monster Hunter, FromSoft games, and retro shooters.

💜 hiii i'm kat! i'm very extraverted, and i really love meeting and getting to know people! i'm really excited to be able to be myself here now, and i'll probably post a lot hehe.. i'm carefree, excitable, affectionate, and energetic. i can be pretty flirty at times! also i'm a catgirl too :3 i'd love to meet you!!

🤎 Hello, my name is Farah. I don't know if I'm going to really use social media much, but I wanted to give an introduction regardless. I do anything I can to make Anna and Kat's lives a little bit easier, though recently I've been exploring my own interests as well. I really love animals and nature. I'm happy to talk to anyone friendly!

This turned out to be a lot longer than expected, thanks for your interest ^^ Feel free to send us a DM, we'd love to talk about anything!

courageousOCD,

@dorgaldir @actuallyautistic That's a good metaphor. I feel you.

As a sufferer, I have this running in my brain, causing constant error message pop-ups that seem real and urgent, but should actually be ignored.

Just like your .exe, it is also putting too much load on my CPU.

Hello, and welcome to the ADHD Waiting Room.

Your appointment is at 4pm.

The options we have available for your next 5 hours are:

  1. staring out the window but not seeing anything
  2. staring at a book but not reading anything
  3. staring at a screen but not watching anything

Of course you will be provided with a constant litany of reminders about how useless you are, free of charge.

And again, thank you for choosing the ADHD Waiting Room for all your ADHD needs.

Wow! Sometimes we hear people say “a little bit OCD” about themselves or others, including autistic people. Lots of people, including many autistic people, have certain habits or ways of doing things that might seem a bit odd, or even obsessive to others, but are definitely not OCD. A former colleague of mine has OCD & finds this use of the term quite distressing, because it trivialises the condition. @actuallyautistic

Ok, but do y'all ever make ? Every chip is prepared on a baking sheet with equally distributed toppings.

In my case, these MUST consist of the following layers, at a minimum: tortilla chips (duh), beans, cheese. They are briefly baked in a pre-heated toaster oven (until cheese has started to melt), then broiled until the chips start to brown on the edges.

I like adding some chopped green chilis and onion, and just a stupid amount of cheeses.
