Hats off:

"Billionaire Elon Musk, found dead in his home last night, says it is not the role of social media networks to determine what is true or not.

The Tesla and X owner, who is believed to have died from a heroin overdose while watching animal porn, said he would fight any attempts to stop the spread of misinformation on his platform"

"is it true that #longCOVID rates are going down?

HANNAH DAVIS: No. That is a narrative that has been perpetuated, I think, in order to help communicate that the pandemic is over when it’s not. The CDC and census have a Household Pulse Survey that actually just released new data, and showed that the rates of long COVID in the U.S. adult population have actually jumped tremendously since the last time they counted."

"We refuse the false choice between Jewish safety and Palestinian freedom; between Jewish identity and ending the oppression of Palestinians. In fact, we believe the rights of Jews and Palestinians go hand-in-hand. The safety of each people depends on the other’s.

We also call on governments & civil society in the US & across the West to stand up against the repression of support for Palestine.

And we refuse to allow such demands to be suppressed in our names."

Welp. The buried lede in this study is that even people who had but supposedly don't have still show cognitive slowing (compared to Novids), and "the data indicate that this impairment does not improve over time"*

Good luck with the plan to just let everyone get this all the time, eh

"My broader concern is that uni's are still pushing the model of social media that was the norm throughout 2010s – that every upwardly mobile ambitious academic needs to be highly visible on dominant platform & be seen engaging on a regular basis. That was always bad advice.. As that breaks down, our academic cmnties need to get much better at facilitating other modes of engagement so that we are never again so reliant on a big corporate platform"

"Imagine if we had learned that pathogens in water caused enormous amounts of sickness and disease and then said well, you are in control of your own health. You can learn to live with cholera, or buy your own bottled water or filters, if you want. It’s a matter of individual choice.

That’s what we’ve done with COVID and air quality, and we are barely beginning to see the consequences." @philmoscovitch on

Even if there were a miracle "cure" or way to halt transmission tomorrow, the moral injury perpetrated by peers and bosses is never going away

I'm bookmarking them, too, for appending to future reports of anti-Native behavior; and encourage others to do the same. Some mods may need a little extra help on the nuances here, but giving this sh*t a pass isn't ok. :solidarity: to everyone actually trying to make this a better place.

What I don't think you'll see in any news story is that my colleagues have been occupying the halls of the administration building for two days now, trying to get disciplinary sanctions of students dropped. They've been met with stonewalling.

It's really awesome that faculty are going to the mat for students & really heartbreaking it's not moving the needle.

Admin censure is so much less than the campus community deserves & also so much less than is visible from inside.
