The $850 Micro-ATX Pre-Built Gaming PC: PowerSpec G513 Review & Benchmarks

We bought the Microcenter PowerSpec G513 micro-ATX pre-built to see if it's any good. Our review, testing, and benchmarks evaluate the thermal performance, but we also look at the assembly quality, part selection, and value. This system nails it on a lot of points -- but has one big, disappointing miss.

xyguy,

Just visited a Micro Center for the first time the other day. Might be the best store ever created. I have no doubt that someone there at the knowledge at would fix the thermal throttling problem if someone brought it in.

But like Steve mentions repeatedly, someone buying a prebuilt doesn’t know to look for details like that and unless the computer is blue screening or something, they’ll just have an underperforming PC for it’s entire life.

If you are close to a Micro Center, probably better off picking parts with a store associate so they can recommend things to you on the fly.
