You can see groups I've listed so far at https://fedi.directory/tag/fediverse-groups/ I've tried to only list groups that are active and have a friendly atmosphere. FediFollows, 11 months ago @tao As far as I know they work in a similar way to Guppe and Chirp, but you have to be a Friendica user to set one up. Also, Friendica groups can have several moderators.

There's plenty of groups that I think would deserve some promotion on plenty of Fedi software. Besides a.gup.pe and chirip, there's also #Friendica, #kbin or #Lotide.
