If you're on a Mac and have never used pbpaste and pbcopy on the CLI, you're missing out. I love taking the contents of my paste buffer and running sed on it to get the output I want: pbpaste| sed -e s/:/-/g

After , I've now pushed implementation of a output in frontend, which shows A/V call video streams directly into your terminal! It's using or image protocols, or half-blocks (thanks to )

I'm not aware of any other CLI tools doing something similar ( or not). It's not as useful as GUI, but it's quite fun :)

Attached are 2 demo videos of call between Libervia and , on .

New software: watch your last notifications right in the terminal, with the CLI bard, a very simple, yet good-looking, command-line tool.

Numbat (https://numbat.dev/) is a calculator thing that understands units. They recently added some date and time support, which I'm hoping will satisfy my need for easy to use date math.

Y'all got your config files under version control too, right? As one should?

> # echo '$Id: .bashrc,v 1.29 1999/01/30 21:47:51 lmb Exp $'

... maybe it's time to drop the rcs headers tho

This cli tool might be really good for others, like me, who are new to Linux. I love it.

"eg" outputs examples of common commands you query. I tried out "eg touch" in the left panel and this is what came out. Bit more info in the right panel.

You can install it with pip ("sudo apt install pip" then "pip install eg").

More info here: https://github.com/srsudar/eg

So what's the word on command-line Mastodon clients? I'm used to Tusky on Android or the Advanced web UI.

Thing that I wish existed: A command-line meme generator. Something that you could call like

memgen --template tintin-wednesday bubble2="Captain, it's Monday"

or

memegen -t surprised-pikachu label=CEO

or

memegen -t 3-spider-men head1=file:tobey.jpg head2=file:andrew.jpg head3=file:tom.jpg

Templates can be downloaded as separate packages (usually with more than one template) or created by the user. Text & images can also be placed manually using coordinates.

fab, to RaspberryPi

I made a CLI status screen on my raspberry pi.

It shows (for now):

  • If my local/remote servers and services are up
  • wttr.in weather report
  • A figlet clock
  • My Astrobotany plant
  • Placeholder: Asciiquarium
  • Placeholder: cmatrix

I'm not sure what to else to put on, maybe a calendar, emails or todo list - still work in progress.

Does anybody else have such a thing? Please show me.
