I'm making a new #homebrew#dnd setting. The mistake I felt I made last time was trying to devise an orgin from whole cloth for each playable race, which wasted a TON of time and energy while also confusing my players. So, herein I wish to ask: What playable races would you miss, if you joined my table and noticed their absence?
Humans, dwarves, halflings, orcs, goblinoids, and elves will all stay, but I am not sure about all the others.

Wouldn't it be sweet if every #TTRPG setting and character and system could be used with every setting and character and system in an enormous #RPG#multiverse?
So many systems already have multiverse settings (#GURPS, arguably #BRP, even #DnD if they still have that planar thing going on).
Groups could team up for one-offs in the shared intersection of their usual settings.

The two things that I personally feel have always been terrible about the design of #DnD are the class-based character development system and the Vancian magic system.
These systems irrationally limit the choices players can make in designing and developing their PCs, and TSR/WotC/Hasbro has missed so many opportunities to do away with these systems over the past 50 years.
But, they can be fixed, within the existing framework of #Dnd5E. (more)
Ich schreibe an einem Dungeon-lastigen Abenteuer (aber auch in keinster Weise einem Megadungeon...) und und dabei kam mir diese Erkenntnis:
Eigentlich sind Dungeons gut, wenn sie übersichtlich, thematisch prägnant und… kurz sind, nicht viel mehr als 5 Räume.
Es wird echte Arbeit, bei 20+ Räumen die Gruppe nicht zu ermüden und ich glaube, dafür könnte ich besser gut 3-4 kleinere, abgeschlossene Bereiche entwickeln, die eine Gruppe schneller abschließen kann.
Bin immer noch durch, weil der CDU-Bundesvorsitzende #Merz die #Brandmauer gegen #Faschismus & #Antisemitismus angegriffen hat. Für mich als Christdemokrat seit über 30 Jahren undenkbar & untragbar.

Nachdem Wizards of the Coast Anfang des Jahres die Maske des wohlmeinenden Hüters freier Spielkultur abnahm, nur um sie kurze Zeit später auf Druck der Community wieder aufzusetzen, sind freie Lizenzen für Rollenspiele ins Zentrum meines Interesses gerückt. Denn eins war deutlicher als je zuvor: Spielen muss frei sein!
I sat down and watched Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves tonight. Despite the oft slipshod plot, shallow characterizations, and sometimes questionable VFX, I quite enjoyed it. Regé-Jean Page and Hugh Grant steal the movie, but the rest of the cast acquits themselves nicely, it maintains a consistent, breezy comedic tone, and there are many bits of clever action - plus a chonky red dragon. The speak with dead sequence was the highlight for me; I was LMAO.
I do have to wonder why I keep buying new versions of the same game over and over just because I like the art.
On the left "White Box - Fantastic Medieval Adventure Game" in its first edition (version 1.4) which i already had, on the right is version 2. I'm not actually sure what the difference is besides some art.
The game is your run of the mill #dnd white box #osr clone based on Swords & Wizardry. The main point is the price though, this was under 7eur on Amazon. And it's a complete game.
It’s up to us to keep our hobby strong. Buy physical RPG books and PDFs direct from independent publishers. Don’t become reliant on online digital tools. Use paper character sheets. Let players use options from non-WOTC 5e books. Play other RPGs.
What else can we do strengthen our hobby from the whims of any single company?
I am working on ridding myself of the part of my mind that has been so poisoned by "hustle-culture" and all that nonsense that leads to me being ashamed of those creative or artistic endeavors that do not end up earning any money (or have no potential for it).
Stopped me from writing for years. Kept me from indulging in story telling and even reading.

Die Übersetzung von "Das Erwachen der Grottenschrate" hat begonnen. Wie schon ein paarmal erwähnt, ist ziemlich arbeitsintensiv wenn man es gut machen will, aber das Ergebnis zu sehen ist auch sehr befriedigend.
