Though I've been drifting away from #DND5e for a while now, it's still feels really weird to be completely uninterested in the latest releases. I mean, not even a twinge of FOMO.

The two things that I personally feel have always been terrible about the design of #DnD are the class-based character development system and the Vancian magic system.
These systems irrationally limit the choices players can make in designing and developing their PCs, and TSR/WotC/Hasbro has missed so many opportunities to do away with these systems over the past 50 years.
But, they can be fixed, within the existing framework of #Dnd5E. (more)

No wonder he didn't hear your entrance. There's a glass of #wine at his right hand. His left is fidgeting with something. There are shelves above the desk. On the top, you see an AM-FM broadcast receiver, a small #HamRadio transceiver, a power outlet strip, and a small #audio recorder. You turn your attention to the laptop.

You notice a distribution of #GNU#Linux with the Mate desktop. There are three windows open. The foremost is a vlc open on a playlist. Behind this, you see two text editors and a firefox. One editor has what looks like an #introduction post for Mastodon. The other has a #DND5E character sheet, in progress. The firefox has the DND wiki. On one of two easy chairs, you see #LGBTQIA#Pride graphic tees. You realize there's nothing worth stealing, so, you quietly exit.

August has rolled around again, so let's try to keep up with this again this time. The first game I played this year was my #DnD5e Thursday night Midgard game.
I think it's kind of weird how front and center the 80s D&D cartoon characters are in the artwork for the 2024 revisions when the majority of 5e fans weren't even alive when they aired.
This part of the ICV2 analysis of the hobby game channel falling off in sales is strange to me. Were there people saying "I wanted to get the most recent release but they just can't pull box office?" If movie box office negates sales, why doesn't video game sales increase them?
Just to clarify, I'm not saying sales AREN'T down, just that this felt like some strange speculation.

The monthly Saturday #DnD5e game went extremely well
again. Everyone leveled up to 2nd level, and they set off into
the wilderness to find a dungeon whose location was kept secret from them, but was being transmitted to the wizard's apprentice they had with them. The dungeon is guarding the Eye of Vecna. I took a page out of 13th Age and made it a Living Dungeon, one that was created specifically to move from place to place to keep the eye
hidden.
So tonight in D&D one of the players did exactly what I was hoping they were going to do and get in point blank range of the antagonist after teleporting into his carriage as he was trying to escape, so he took out the blunderbuss he has, said "You shouldn't have done that" and shot the PC in the chest while casting vortex warp with the attack which teleported the PC back out.
#Farscape is like a #DnD campaign in many ways, or at least a good hint at how you might want to structure one as a #dungeonmaster .
Individual characters with different strengths and weaknesses, all pushed together by chance and looking to fulfill their own goals, some of which align.
Episodes sometimes put one character in the spotlight with their backstory and resolve some stuff about them. Then the next character and so on and so forth.

Omg pre session jitters. Stress sweats. Stomach cramps. Did I do my prep? All my settings correct? Windows adjusted my volume settings again. I hope nothings broken in foundry today. I stayed up late setting up. Is my dog going to bark at every leaf? We don't use video, why am I choosing earings?
How am I not over this by now. Years and years of being a GM and full time for almost two years.
My main concept is to turn the equipment that your players already have into magic items over time, to lessen the clutter and create a stronger relation between player character and magic item.
I finished reading the 5e D&D Oz book last night. Quite frankly, I kind of struggled to finish it. Don't get me wrong, it's clearly written and the art/layout is beautiful, but it's dull, especially when describing the city state's neighborhoods.
